Oria (o-ree-ah)
Queen Oria/Nylella/Xenja/Derena
Oria, called Nylella by the Yiru, Xenja by the Dragons and Derena by the Naria, is a goddess in the Areic Pantheon. She is the queen of the Area and the goddess of nature and the hunt. Patron of Hunters and mother of Man-beasts, she is invoked for a plentiful hunt and a filling meal.Oria was one of the El Isra (or original creations) as such she has been in creation since the beginning. She was the child of Sori and Dirma or Stasis and Light. In legend, Oria is said to be the first to agree to Frio's plan of creation and even helped him present his idea to the other El Arae. Oria is often referred to as Frio's wife in myth and the mother of Arella, the goddess of love.
Oria helped create the Earth Stone, a magical artifact gifted to the ruler of the earth riders. The goddess is also the mother of the demigod Silnora Silverheart, who killed Empress Leena of the First Empire of Snow. Oria is also the creator of Lycanthropy and gifts the transformation to her most trusted followers. It is said that all wood elves travel to Oria's realm when they die, hunters and lycanthropes are also said to go to her realm.
In Perite and Grina, Oria is known as Derena, and she has the power of the elements added to her sphere. She is said to have gifted the Naria with the knowledge of agriculture and hunting. In this mythology Oria is the mother of Tessyn, the goddess of volcanos. In the fourth era, many have come to call Derena by the name Oria, though those that live near the mountains and on the island of Oliphela still use her ancient name.
In Rosil, Oria is known as Nylella. The Yiru say she was the first child of the great cat, Simar and the great serpent Lorh, they gifted her the earth for she would be the mother to all. As a beast race themselves, they venerate Nylella for her creation of Lycanthropy and it is said she moulded the beast race from the earth. In these stories she is also the mother of the gods of the elements.
The Dragon version of Oria is called Xenja, meaning Mother Earth, she is said to have blessed the first earth dragons with their abilities and even helped Katues create the species with her more powerful magic. As stated above Xenja also created the Earth Stone as a gift for the dragon riders, she is also said to have blessed some riders and their dragons with the ability to control animals.
