Lord Death
Lord Death is one of the oldest gods in the Universe, being created just after his elder sister Vitalia. He is the one who completes the cycle of life and death, by guiding mortal beings to the next part of their journey once they have passed on. Although scary in appearance, Lord Death acts as a kind and understanding guide. Lord Death also acts as the leader of one half of the greater gods, those who reside in The Hells. This group is referred to as "The Court of Death."

Personal history
Ever since life has existed in the universe, death too has been there. When Truth created the first greater god, Vitalia, they found that another had been born from her shadow, this new greater god was Lord Death.
Lord Death spent his time working closely with his sister, designing the cycle of life and death. However his ghastly appearance, and the purpose that he served, caused his other siblings to avoid and fear him. That said, he had a strong friendship with Vitalia and the two would remain close for many years to come.
Seen as the most mature and serious of the gods, he worked hard to guide his siblings and would chastise them if he caught them doing something wrong. He admired his creator and agreed with their teachings so he did what he could to pass those on to his followers and his siblings.
But, as the years went on, he found that his siblings were opposed in their duties and views on how their creators words should be followed. He and Vitalia could see that there needed to be separation and autonomy between the two broad groups to avoid conflict, and so they agreed to each lead half of their siblings and craft a home plane for them to create their own realms. This was how the Courts of Life & Death were formed, and how The Heavens and The Hells were created.
Towards the end of the first age however, the world became a darker place. As The Crimson Betrayer's followers waged war on Estellia, Lord Death looked on with cold silence, knowing that this was the price of the freedom that Truth had granted them all. He had seen his youngest siblings troubles, and he only cursed himself for not doing more to avoid what was occurring.
After Truth's death, the two courts met to discuss what they should do with the scarred remains of the world. The two groups of gods had seen what a single rogue god could do and they agreed that they could not allow this to happen again. And so it was decided, that the divine gates to the hells and heavens would be closed and locked. Only by the agreement of two thirds of all the gods would these gates ever open again, allowing the gods to visit the rest of the universe in their true forms again.
Morality & Philosophy
Death has a strong moral philosophy of Neutrality and to allow total freedom for the living to do what they wish. The only souls that he judges are those who have committed crimes against life itself, namely the use of Necromancy or cheating one's death through un-death.
He makes exceptions for those who use these powers for good, or in dire circumstance, but he rarely forgives someone for making themselves a lich or vampire etc.
Other crimes against life include the erasure of a species, and acts of exceptional evil which threaten countless people.
