Nitro

Nitro is a highly controversial drug within the Free Economic Zone of the Mojave, and the direct cause behind the rising call for Chem regulation within the nation. Prior to Nitro chems were always a problem, but after Nitro, drug-related deaths skyrocketed. Nitro itself is not necessarily deadly, but when mixed with alcohol or other chems, the chemicals within Nitro bind to the chemicals of others, and can cause rapid overdose. Originally the drug was meant for Ghouls as they have a high tolerance for substances; but when used by humans, it produces a far more intense high.    Injected via syringe directly into veins, Nitro has an effect that betrays its intense sounding name. Users will experience a high not unlike being "crossfaded" with marijuana and alcohol, making one extremely relaxed and slothful. For humans its far more intense, with one not being able to do anything productive for most of the day, as the high can last almost 18 hours for them. Despite the drug not being deadly, it is, like any mind-altering substance, addictive. However, as many humans dicovered, Nitro is not to be mixed with anything. Even sips of alcohol can prove to be fatal, as when the chemicals in the drug combine with alcohol or any other drug, even stimpaks, it causes the Nitro elements to bind to these not only them, but also red blood cells themselves. The result is an almost immediate overdose, in a far different manner than most substances. Where usual overdoses cause the heart to give out due to poisoning of the blood stream, Nitro overdose causes blood clotting due to the cell bindings, causing strokes, and heart attacks in rapid succession. Death is unavoidable, and no amount of medical care can help, as anything administered just worsens the problem. Any people within the Vegas hospital who are under the influence of Nitro must be tended to without painkillers, if a condition requires genuine medicine, they have to wait until the Nitro is out of the system, which can take days or even weeks.    Many families and docters initially started to protest Chemico outside their Headquarters, but the CEO, Seth Marshton was quick to turn the opposition on its heels, when he announced that his company would be the first post war company to begin producing stimpaks inside the Mojave, making them indespensible to the medical industry. By the turn of the century Nitro was across the Mojave, with some cases of related overdoses even appearing within the New California Republic.   The Drug's appearence is a glowing yellow, leading to its street name "Liquid Gold" or LG.
