Session 10 Report
General Summary
- Gedrass dropped off the party outside of Abruan and decided to take a rest before heading to Coven Island.
- They bunked with the tabaxi Strides on Ice for the night, who offered some mounts, but they ended up being a bit pricey.
- They heard a rumor that something happened on the northern end of the city, involving Shoma the Wicked.
- Without many additional details, they decided to ask Egni Nettle Tooth and Jorokk the Flame directly the next morning.
- Having arrived at The Flaming Nettle, Vaauna's parents explained the situation.
- A sect of the Orian navy arrived on the northern shore shortly after the party left for Skybreaker Temple. They claimed to have a right to be here because they're looking for an escaped convict by the last name of Stonefist (Jorokk couldn't remember the first name). He's supposedly got a bounty of 3K gp on him.
- Since nobody knew who that was, or didn't want to sell him out, the Orians opted to do a thorough search around the city.
- During this, Shoma snuck up on one of the officers and smashed a rocking chair over his head.
- In retaliation, the officer bashed her with his shield, causing Shoma to break her neck and pass soon after.
- The blood she spat up showed signs of Wild Fever, which Jorokk eventually admitted to having himself, likely contracted from Shoma while he was taking care of her the last few days.
- So far, Jorokk's condition has only advanced to a slight cough, which is similar to Vendrea's symptoms.
- Speaking of, the party recounted their journey to The Shadowfell during this time.
- After taking a breather, Jorokk and Egni decided it was time to make their proposal. Egni described a dream that she had where Shoma was crying tears of frustration alone in a dark forest. She believes that Shoma died with a powerful vengeance in her heart that caused her spirit to become locked within The Forest of Ghosts. As the first known case of a manifested spirit originating from a body infected with Wild Fever, neither parent has any idea what this could mean for Shoma or the forest.
- On top of this, Jorokk believes that he may be able to use Pineclot Moss as a material component in a spell he's working on that may suppress - if not cure - the effects of Wild Fever. His reasoning is that it's a plant grown by the effects of Wild Magic and yet still seems to consistently have healing properties based on what Egni has been able to use it for in the past. It's a stretch, but he figures that if they're going to ask you to appease Shoma, they might as well save you a second trip.
- With that, the party took another rest at The Overdose before spending the day gathering supplies for their trip south down Breaker River.
- While they were at the inn, Vaauna had a Fuckmud drinking contest with Rhuk Pride Dagger, and only managed to win the last round. Thaddeus attempted to cheat Rhuk out of some gold while he was drunk, but was unsuccessful.
- During that time, they encountered a group of Grung riding a wooden fort on the back of a drugged Ogre. With some effort, they managed to kill all of the grung before they had a chance to escape, and let the ogre go free after he made it clear that he had no idea what was going on.
- Sulu took a moment to let Elarys know that some grung appear to be operating 25 to 30 miles south of Abruan. She replied by letting him know that they would send a unit out to apprehend them right away.
- When they finally managed to finish their rest by noon, the party prepared to enter The Forest of Ghosts.
