1492 DR 21 Nightal (The Drawing Down)
General Summary
We rejoined the combat in progress, with Matsui facing off against Borigar, now revealed to be an Oni, and Jerboa confronting the Annis Hag Kesian had been scrying earlier. Matsui and Tanto drove off the oni, which discorporated into a mass of ravens and fled east. Jerboa and Tall likewise forced the hag to flee by means of dimension door.
Attempts to pursue the attackers failed. A wall of ice caused us a momentary pause, and the blizzard reduced visibility enough that we felt it unwise to rush forward. Kesian tried locate object again to lock on to the hag's necklace, but it disappeared shortly after the spell was cast. We surmised a nondetection spell was being used to hide the hag from divination.
After discussing several options, we settled down for a long rest to recover our resources. We were not allowed much rest. Barely an hour into our rest, a fire elemental showed up intended to burn down Brysan and Elyna's house with Hillie inside. Tanto fought back in the form of a water elemental. A mighty Frostmourn suddenly appeared, joined soon by the oni Usagi and a coven of hags: Granny Annie Cruelty, Rickety Olga Ironwillow, and Dismal Ethel Frostwart. The battle was fierce. Jerboa was rendered seriously hurt early on. Dismal Ethel was the first to fall, followed by Rickety Olga, the frostmourn, and the oni, but Jerboa was left on death's door as well. Granny Annie Cruelty fled via plane shift, causing the fire elemental to run amuck. After burning much of what remained of the Thorn and Thistle, the elemental engulfed Kesian, Tall, and Jerboa, killing Jerboa. We made short work of the elemental immediately after.
With most of our magic resources exhausted, we ended the session discussing how to restore Jerboa to life.
