Caesellius Vindex

"Why do we fight? We fight to free ourselves from the horrors the Provectors cause." - King Edward II

Structure

The king is the at the top of the political food chain. He decides battle strategies, prison sentences, and the status of officers. Below him are his subordinates called “Drones”. They do a variety of tasks such as tax collecting, army organization, and law enforcement. They're essentially his keys of power, if you lose the drones, Caesellius Vindex slips from your grasp.

Public Agenda

The main goal of Caesellius Vindex is to forcefully dissolve Provectus in order to stop their rampaging attacks.

Assets

Beneath the surface, Caesellius Vindex holds many minerals that Provectus lacks. This creates a never-ending struggle for resources on both sides. Since Provectus has an acute shortage of resources, whenever they gain Vindexian land they excavate it immediately. This creates ravines and unstable ground on the border. If that wasn't enough, the border also contains hundreds of ruins that are due to collapse on unsuspecting soldiers any second.

History

Caesellius was first founded on the coast where it relied on natural resources. Once the marshlands were discovered to hold precious metals, they were quickly dug out. Fish and metals made up most of its economy. Then, kings started granting large plots of land to the wealthy that was further away from the coast. These families started to build massive farms not dissimilar to plantations worked by hired laborers. Then, the war between Provectus broke out causing the farms to be ravaged by soldiers. This left the wealthy families poor; barely able to sustain themselves. The descendants of these families vowed revenge on Provectus and helped kickstart the Vindexian military with the little wealth they still possessed. Many from this generation are renown for being excellent leaders in combat.

Demography and Population

The population is spread across the plains and prairies with most citizens holding several acres of land. These people usually farm for themselves and then sell any extra produce that can't be stored. Many rivers run through Caesellius Vindex which allows for farmers to irrigate their crops. The rest of the population lives on the south coast to fish or work in the mines. The fisherman live on elevated huts on the docks to prevent their house from flooding. The miners live in wide houses near caves for easy transportation to work. Average lifespans differ depending on where you live.

Military

Early into the war with Provectus, the king passed a law that required all healthy 16 year old males to join the military. For some reason, females were not allowed to enroll. Each soldier is encumbered with a large steel helmet and scale-like armor plates that have fur stuffed inside. This is to prevent from soldiers from dying from frostbite in the chilling Provector climate. There are also soldiers trained as guerilla forces to ambush Provector troops at the border. They wear outfits made from greenery and leaves that aren't dissimilar from a ghillie suit.

Technological Level

Compared to Provectus, Caesellius Vindex is much more primitive technologically. The only notable technology is the polished armor and camouflage used by the soldiers. The men who lead the charge wear the best armor in Fractura. Meanwhile, guerilla troops can easily blend in with the tall grasses near the border for an effective ambush.

Agriculture & Industry

Caesellius Vindex's economy relies on farming and a little bit of mining. The leftovers from sustinence farmers cycle through the country along with fish caught at sea. The little industry contributes to the economy consists of mining and the minerals it produces. The metals mined are used for armor, weaponry, and extravagant buildings.

Trade & Transport

The common people normally trade crops and fish from a long season's work. Roads are scarce in Vindexian territory, this means that each person has their own route to the coast. Mules and horses are commonly bred among livestock to suffice the long trip.

Education

Vindexian children are usually homeschooled in their farmhouse. The higher class send their kids to academies in the city that have strict grading and acceptance policies. Their curriculum includes basic military training to serve as a head start for their mandatory service.

Infrastructure

The pride of Caesellius Vindex is the king's castle. It acts as many more things than a home to the current king and his family. The castle contains a courthouse, housing for the drones, and an office for the king. The exterior of the building is mostly stone and iron. The luxurious interior consists of limestone and carpets of royal purple.
