KRAMER METALLBARBEITEN GmBH

Kramer Metallarbeiten GmBH, commonly referred to as Kramer, was a renowned firearms manufacturer that became a subsidiary of ARMAT battlefield Systems. Known for producing reliable and powerful weapons, Kramer made a significant impact on the firearms industry both before and after its acquisition by Armat.

History

Origins and Rise to Prominence
Headquartered in Emden, Germany, and at Ostara Colony near Kapteyn's Star, Kramer Metallarbeiten GmBH gained widespread recognition in 2168 with the release of the Kramer Assault Rifle. This rifle quickly became a favorite among private military contractors (PMCs) and mercenaries due to its reliability and versatility. The success of the Kramer Assault Rifle posed a threat to rival manufacturer Armat Battlefield Systems, leading to Kramer's acquisition by Armat in 2178.
Acquisition by Armat
The acquisition of Kramer by Armat Battlefield Systems was a strategic move to neutralize a rising competitor in the mercenary and private military contractor markets. The buyout was contested in the antitrust courts of the Three World Empire for nearly a decade, but it was eventually approved, allowing Kramer to become an integral part of Armat. Following the acquisition, Kramer continued to produce weapons under Armat's aegis, effectively becoming a significant weapon supplier for the United Americas and the United States Marine Corps (USCMC).

Major Products

Kramer Metallarbeiten GmBH is known for several key products that have cemented its reputation in the firearms industry:
  • Kramer Assault Rifle: Released in 2168, this rifle is celebrated for its reliability and versatility, making it a preferred choice among PMCs and mercenaries. It remains a staple in various arsenals despite attempts by competitors to supersede it.
  • Kramer .50 Magnum: A powerful handgun released under Armat's management, known for its stopping power and precision.
  • Kramer Short-Barrel: Another product released under Armat's banner, this weapon is designed for close-quarters combat, offering superior maneuverability and effectiveness.
  • Competition and Market Dynamics

In 2188, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation attempted to surpass Kramer in the private contracting market by releasing the Type 88 Heavy Assault Rifle. However, the Type 88 failed to replace the Kramer Assault Rifle due to its protracted development and higher price tag. Kramer's products continued to be favored for their proven reliability and cost-effectiveness.
