Kethendia

Kethendia is a medium island just south of Judera in the Jade Sea area. It is about three hundred miles long and about one hundred miles wide. Kethendia is very mountainous and home to several clans of dragonborn.

Notable Mountains

There are a few notable mountains located on Kethendia, most of which are home to a prominent dragonborn clan. These include Flamesinger Peak, Icetalon Spire, Shieldbreaker Mountain, and Moonrider Summit. On the southern end of Kethendia sits Klauth's Fury, an active volcano which has seen several explosions since its first eruption in BV 432.

Common Species of Kethendia

Aside from the dragonborn clans, Kethendia is home to a host of forest and mountain wildlife. Small mammals and songbirds populate the thick, old-growth forests carpeting the valleys between mountains, while larger game beasts and predators roam the rocky slopes of the Kethendian Range. Several unique species live on Kethendia, such as the striped ground squirrel, stony anoa, and the Kethendian dragonsbell. It is also common to see birds of prey circling the mountain peaks, looking for movement on the rocks below. Likewise, Aarakocra have been known to live on uninhabited mountains on the island.

Communication with the Outside

Kethendia is fairly closed off to visitors, as its rocky peaks do not afford easy travel. Outsiders who make the trip over must contend with the rocky shores of the island, against which the waves of the Jade Sea will throw ships without mercy. There are a few gravel and sand beaches on which boats can beach, but no city on Kethendia is close enough to the shoreline to provide docks for larger ships. The dragonborn living on Kethendia are self-sufficient, and seldom find need for foreign currency when conducting internal affairs. The four clans of Kethendia keep to themselves, and rarely does any member find it necessary to travel to the mainland.
