House Miranèlis

House Mirenèlis is a Feloran Noble House and the founding dynasty of the ancient Feloran Empire. Today, the house is still well known and respected in Felora and beyond for it's history of leadership and methods of governance, which provided the foundations for what would become the last of the mythic empires (those from before the Year of the Bright Star), lasting all the way to the beginning of the Present Era.

Structure

At the head of the great house is the Vènmègra, or House Leader, akin to the patriarch of an Aeillan Noble Family or the Chieftain in some tribal societies. This is traditionally the oldest living direct descendant of Lucien Miranèlis, and is currently Fèrn Miranèlis.   Immediate family members such as children and siblings, as well as more distant relatives like cousins, aunts, and uncles have no formal titles in the modern era, although many of them have been given positions of power in the Soveriegnty that have become de facto hereditary.   At the bottom of House Miranèlis is a large number of servants and staff members who are responsible for maintaining the structures owned by the family and assisting the family members with their daily needs.

Culture

The ancestral Yīra of the Mirenèlis family are Lèlladur, a powerful beaver-like spirit believed to be the first great builder, and Èkènësh, believed to be the benevolent embodiment of the force of nature that made rice, the staple of the ancient Felorans, grow. It is likely these figures were once part of the now-defunct pre-Ëlhyaean pantheon of Gods, syncretised in the centuries after the First Edict on State Spiritual Practice.

Public Agenda

House Miranèlis is a public supporter of the Sorenian Soveriegnty, believing them to be the legitimate continuation of the Empire they founded. The House has stressed however, the need for "traditional" governance in the vein of their Royal-era leaders Lucien and Leswena, whom the House maintain balanced the demands of growth and expansion with the demands of maintaining the land and feeding the people. House Miranèlis supports the Sovereignty of Soren's only social services, opening and running retirement homes, public health clinics, and paupers' graveyards.

History

House Miranèlis traces its lineage back to the Àntrepari. Family mythology is that they are descended from the first to leave the Feyrealm and settle in the Material Plane. By the Unification of Soren & Lumaira, the family had consolidated power over most of Pàrì Fèl'öra, the ancestral homeland of the Feloran People. After the Coronation of Crown Prince Lucien Miranèlis, the Kingdoms of Soren and Lumöra were increasingly ruled as one domain. Due to how Lucien I & IV is believed to have consolidated the various smaller domains of the ancient Felorans into one, he is considered to be the House's founder.   The First Miranèlis Dynasty is known for it's massive infrastructure projects, and in its later years, exessive decadence and spending as each subsequent Steward sought to out-do their predecessor with a bigger, better project. Feloran folklore describes the early Miranèlis Stewards as having made the meaning of the term, perfect embodiments of Stewards who fed their people and assured that "even the poorest among them had money to spend and food to share".   As the founding dynasty of the Feloran Empire, most other noble lines have some lineage back to the Miranèlis family. For instance, the sister of Leswena I would later be cited as the basis for legitimacy for House Naezorwyn. Emperor Leswena Miranelis IV would have two children, Kaelbryn and Myral. Most consequentially, Kaelbryn would be her preference for the throne, but he would be forced to abdicate after 100 years on the throne. He would go on to form his own house, the Kaelbryn house, who would then long covet the Steward's Scepter and Imperial Throne.
