The Zero Lands
"The frozen north of Golthien..."
Located at the northern central tip of the Golthien, the aptly named "Zero Lands" are the continent's equivalent to The Blight, except like everything in Golthien, it's entirely more inhospitable. It consists of the icy peninsulas above the frozen range known as The Minus Peaks, as well as the cluster of settlements at its southern base.
North of the Minus Peaks, only a few major cities exist, such as the mysterious Bal Deneth and the former home of the giantkin known as Titan Home. Some of the smaller settlements along the northern peninsulas include Verglas, the dwarven settlement called Snowforge and the halfling "free burrow" of Frostwarren.
South of the Minus Peaks, the settlements tend to be smaller and more ramshackle.
One small outpost, Silver Paw, marks the lone human town of remarkable size before the craggy rocks of The Minus Peaks take over. The peoples of Silver Paw make those of the Blight look positively demure by comparison. A hard folk who run a tight ship. Any crime of significance in Silver Paw is punishable by death. The smaller, neighboring town of Icehall features residents that are no less hardy, however.
And it's said that during the worst winters, the dead are used as food stock. The locals scoff angrily at such sentiments, but expressing them in their presence may lead to one being killed... and then eaten.
Geography
Bleak and desolate, with a landscape of mostly rock. This is the land of eternal winter.
Fauna & Flora
Only the strong survives in the icy tundra of the Zero Lands. This goes for plants, as well as animals. Fierce beasts may be found here, such as the giant, wormlike Remorhaz, which preys on those foolish enough to wander near its lair. It is also said that several clans of frost giants from the Demon Isles relocated to the Zero Lands after suffering a humiliating defeat in a long war against rival giants in their original homeland.
Natural Resources
For those that have the mettle to attain it, the mountains of the Zero Lands are rife with minerals, metals and precious stones. Getting to them... that's the problem.
