Tolis

"Where Ryktuss Reigns Supreme..."

Ruled by the Lord Mesembre of The Lentokki God Kings, Tolis is one of several towns and cities that surround Lentokk proper, and comprise its vassal states. The Lord of Tolis has a unique relationship with the Faith of Ryktuss, and sees the inherent value in upholding the old ways. This is in stark contrast to the official line of Lentokk, which provides that Krytuss is the way, in place of the "fallen" Ryktuss. This difference in theology hasn't created enough of a schism (thus far) to cause anything beyond seemingly minor friction between Tolis and its liege city-state.
Lord Mesembre is a member of the Eight, the council of God Kings overseen by Xrie Palax, and who collectively rule all Lentokk. Though his personal settlement is not large in scope, it carries a lot of weight because of its adherence to the old ways and its prominent church. The renown Death Temple of the Lord Ryktuss is one of the great high holy sites in the east, and draws pilgrims and petitioners for far and wide.
Even the form of blood magic practiced by the arcane mages within Tolis is performed within the rituals of Ryktuss, forming a bizarre fusion of arcane and divine forces. It is said that the blood mages of Tolis are more powerful for this covenant, and are feared by many (some say even by the other members of The Eight).

Government

Tolis is one of the only towns (rather than cities) in Lentokk ruled directly by one of the God Kings. Typically smaller settlements are run by their Flamelords, but in this case, the honor of overseeing the settlement of the high church was too great for Lord Mesebre to turn down.
This being said, Lord Mesebre is himself attended by one of the Lentokki Flamelords, Highlord Letareuss, who oversees the town's defenses, amongst other details.

Defences

Tolis is protected by a dedicated garrison of 500 Green Flames, who protect the Death Temple (and the surrounding town) with their very lives. There is little crime known within the town's walls, partially because of the soldiers, but mostly out of fear that the "sleeping eye" of Ryktuss might witness any transgression.

Industry & Trade

Tolis tends to only trade with other vassals of Lentokk, along with the great city itself. Most of their industry is built upon the reverence of Ryktuss, and the town mass produces objects and baubles of worship to sell to visiting pilgrims.

Infrastructure

Though small by most standards, the town is built as if it were a larger city, along with many modern amenities such as sewers and aqueducts.

History

Tolis is one of the very first towns established after the re-habitation of Lentokk by the current God Kings and their ancestors.

Geography

Located just over 200 miles from the capitol of Lentokk in Golthien, Tolis sits on the shores of the World Sea at the Northern Bay.
