Born in Barrowton, Varg was one of the many people rehomed by Ophelia during her visit to The Gallows. He used to be a regular fixture at the All Roads' End, whiling away his evenings gambling until one day he managed to convince a group of men-at-arms on leave from the Deephaunt Road Garrison to play cards with him. The camraderie he felts with those soldiers inspired him to enlist as a man-at-arms himself.

He has since regretted this decision, having been called upon to battle Shades several times.
