Steward

The position of Steward is one of several Council positions common at every level throughout The Kingdom of Somercrag. They are responsible for ensuring their Lord/Lady's will is carried out. This is one of the least restricted council positions, with no expectation to fight, nor requiring the ability to read or write. Instead, the only requirement of a Steward is that they and the Lord or Lady they serve trust one another to act in a way that represents the liege's interests. As a result, it is one of the most commonly inherited positions, with some houses' Stewards going back many generations and even including intermarriage. Legally, a Steward is the liege they represent. They are able to act as a proxy for their liege in any arena they may be called to act in. Except in those rare situations where a Steward chooses to actively undermine their liege, it is generally understood that they will not be punished for any negative consequences of their choices - after all, legally those choices were made by the Lord or Lady.

Council Actions

Each month the Steward may be directed to take one of the following actions. Bolded actions require the Steward's presence for the month, making them unavailable for any other duties.

Act as Proxy - The Steward can perform an action that would normally have to be performed by their liege themselves. This can include representing their liege in the swearing or reciept of oaths, issuing declarations or ruling on conflicts with the ruler's authority, or even providing a presence to meet the 'requires Player Action' condition.

Perform Task - The Steward can replicate any Action that can be performed by any other Council member (though they are unlikely to be as skilled at every task as those appointed specifically to them). When performing a bolded action, this action requires the Steward to be absent for the month.

Support Project - The Steward can be attached to an Ongoing Project or Action carried out by another council member for the duration of that project or action (they must begin the Support Project action when that project or action begins). If the Steward remains in support for the entire duration of the project or action they will provide the following benefits: The project or action has its Duration reduced by one month to a minimum of one month; if at least 2 Revenue are spent on the project each month, each month 1 Revenue is added to the council's Coffers. When supporting a bolded task, this action requires the Steward to be absent for the month.
