Durana

Amongst the largest towns in Iron Marches, located by an oasis around the northern outskirts. The Town has seen great hardships through the years, but has made startling recovery from the hardships of The Second War of the Sacred Flame. Ruled by the Syndicate Durana Runners , the town is often seen as shady place at best, but to most travellers it is a safe haven from the harsh desert and the syndicate atleast takes great care to ensure the safety of it's roads and surroundings.   These days people speak of strangers in outlandish steel and iron carriages coming to the town and the surroundings.

Demographics

The town mainly consist of Kathara but also houses plenty of Karith who by now have made roots in the city for reliable jobs as mercenary guard for local caravans. Though most people are human, it is not entirely uncommon to see Orcs, Half-Orcs and Tieflings.

Government

The Town is ruled by theDurana Runners  a local syndicate ruled byWaseem , they keep the streets safe and ensure order, though much of the settlement is run on an informal understanding born of respect. The people respect the Durana Runners  because they saved the city, they ensure the caravans are kept safe, they ensure the people have work and food. This loose structure of law tends to lead to confrontations, so the underbosses are usually tasked with keeping order, while the boss himself takes care of the larger picture of ensuring the production runs smoothly and that the caravan networks run smoothly.

Defences

The City has alot of people under the paycheck of the Runners, who are paid to protect the city aswell as plently of mercenry contracts with local Karith clans.

Industry & Trade

The city thrives off the caravan trade to Ondessa and back, aswell for simply being the largest jumping off point into the Iron Marches to get to Ondessa. The city also has an ill reputation for their production of Black Paste and Ur's Blood.

History

once under the control of Fahdarm, the town has for a long time been left to it's fend for itself, after the influence of Fahdarm withered. Without clear leadership the city, struggled for many years, the city had grown large for it's trade and grown dependant on this source, for the war had taken away many of the usual traders, the city feel into decline, eventually unrest broke out as food sources grew scares so did unrest mount. Violence became common place, the local guard could not keep order as people began to fear for the future. Were not for the rise of the Durana Runners  who began smuggling food into the city by night, sneaking past hostile lines bringing back supplies, in time the Durana Runners  influence began to outpace the local counsel afterall who was it that had saved them during the harsh years, to maintain their influence after the war they began smuggeling and selling wares not strictly legal to other cities while using the gains to promote further caravan trade, which proved a wise move with the fall of Arbara.

Architecture

The town is mainly build out of stone or mud bricks, few could call it illustrious, though many locals hand colourful cloth from their windows, roofs or in between houses to show status.
