Frian Highlands
The Frain Highlands is a harsh place to live, with rocky foothills, mountainous outcrops, and moorlands, these words capture the hauntingly beautiful highlands, its small streams cascading down the mountain slopes, the brilliant red moss found along the riverbanks and streams, though picturesque at times, the glaring chill of the highlands, often take outsiders out of their reverie swiftly. Here little crops can grow, so most of the clans, rely on husbandry to sustain themselves, supplementing their meals with hunting and foraging.
The chilly highlands offer little respite, with little to no trees save what sparsely grows along the northern highlands that cradle the lowlands. Most highlands have traditionally made their houses into the rocky foothills, but as timber has become more easily available due to the increased infrastructure the League has to build, many younger folks have become to build wooden settlements nestled closer together rather than the old spare villages of carved homes.
Though a newer industry is that of coal mining, which the locals have taken up mainly due to economical pressure, within the few cities which are sprouting, up as trade becomes more and more important to sustain the growing population.
The southernmost highlands nestle into the great Drak Mountains, and here a few select passages can allow easy access to them, allowing the inhabitants to travel between the highlands and the interior of the mountain with some of their herd to graze.
Along the southern highlands, are countless cave systems, the locals often refer to it as the singing walls, and though the name is beautiful, it is often are more horrifying experience, in the often galling winds, the caverns sound much more akin to that a screaming elk, often scaring animals and outsiders alike, but the locals know that there is nothing to fear, unless a foul wind comes from the cave, in which case they know to run, for it heralds a mountain trolls coming.
