House Aharon
Venerable house Aharon, holders of the north and vanguard of the Stygian Kingdom, first to the fray and last to leave, the lords of the northern desert and wardens of the rich oases. The body guards of the first stygian king, a tradition they still carry, sometimes referred to as coin hounds by the other houses for their willingness to fight for them and swear loyalty to other houses when they serve as body guards, and their reluctance to commit troops for other houses without payment.
The lands of Aharon are mostly barren save few and bountiful oases which support rich agriculture, the lands under the house is heavily tariffed even the other houses are tariffed. Such laws and their heavy taxes they have in their domain to sustain their great forces leaves them rather unpopular among the populace.
The Lords of Aharon are very public about their displays of power, and have many traditions of hospitality; Childbirth for example is a treasured event in the lands of under Aharon, and to be celebrated in the household for several days. During such times it is not uncommon for father’s to be given leave of duty for a week to spend time with their new family member and tired mother.
For the common folk this is one of the few appeasements they receive from the their rulers, in larger cities it is not uncommon for such celebrations to drag on for quite some time given the amount of people living in them, creating lively atmospheres and a bustling city life. Among the Aharon this custom strengthens the bonds of loyalty within the family. A newborn Aharon is welcomed from the first moment of his life. Relatives and friends pay their respects and offer their protection. Unlike many other celebrations in Aharon land such as coming of age and finishing their training where it is an open celebration even strangers and common folk may attend, birth is deeply private among the Aharon and rarely are outsiders invited to celebrate.
Aharon practice war and training mainly as individuals, for they either serve as body guards or powerful shock troops, calling themselves spell blades the Aharon’s use magic or mounts to quickly close the gap between themselves and their opponent crushing their lines with magically enhanced sword play and the aid of their great magical armoury leaves their soldiers practically a dervish of destruction that cannot be stopped by ordinary means.
