Ornland Region - the Kingdom of Korholm
The easternmost province of the Heartland, but it is here that it all began, the birth lands of Korvand the conqueror, having been born into the last line of human kings in the land, he grew him to be greatest and strongest son in decades, he united the scattered people of the Ornlands, and with technological sorcerer did he utilize the old engines to destroy the elven dictators or so the story goes. No matter the case, He united the Korholmers and began his decades-long conquest and "unification" of the heathlands and it all began in the honorable Ornlands.
The Ornlands have seen much war, both in service of the League and in defense of home It has never had much trouble internally but has always been under pressure from forces beyond it’s borders. This has fostered a strongly aggressive government and people, seeing outsiders and the unknown as possible threats, but has fostered a strong bond amongst those they consider allies, for having stood against such threats for so many years.
Structure
The Ornland region is ruled by a military council, as in their eyes the only true king was King Korvand, who's son left no heirs, thus the position of king, is an elected position, amongst the military leaders of the Ornland, being synonymous with the position of Field Marshal, the position is often called as being the high Marshall internally.
That’s not to say Ornland hierarchy isn’t highly hereditary or merit-based entirely, as one can only be elected for the position if one family hasn’t had at least three members become generals in the Ornland Military. For the chance to be elected by the council of nobles. To be such a candidate one must be able to prove lineage to the founding king Korvand.
The governance in Korholm is roughly the same in many towns, with the military aristocracy, giving privileges and positions to local businesses and respected ex-military members of the community to work office jobs and relay information to them.
History
Founded when Korvand the Congerourer died, the region was defined by the Sacramental Edict was signed by his 5 sons at the behest of the church. Thus Korvarn became ruler of the Ornlands the birthplace of his father. at first a great honor, but it was obvious that the Ornlands were in a perilous state, having been the Marshal of his father's army for many years, he continued his legacy, molding the Ornlands into a military machine to continue his father's dream, though he himself would never succeed in this dream and having died with no direct heir he declared the law of iron, any who had the blood of Korvand in their veins and had served with distinction could be his son and heir which was later interpreted as having been generals for at least 3 generations within the same family.
You cannot succeed if you allow fools to stumble before you.
