Whitestone Castle

Ancient beyond reckoning, whitestone castle was built by an ancient elven kingdom, its the first purpose lost to time its riches and treasures plundered and destroyed by human hands and the passage of time. Though despite it all, it still stands tall, its proud white stone the product of elven alchemy, the material is renowned for being unyielding to eternal march of time, though most famous for its light absorbent properties, as the stones absord and reflect the the glow of light, and a single torch might light a corridor as the stone illuminates itself.   The old castle has long been referred to as Whitestone post and used by the Scalian Kingdom to maintain control of its northern territories. Though in all of its year's many claims that its vast halls and raising spires are haunted by the spirits of its long-gone inhabitants, doors opening on their own, footsteps in the dark, whispers where no one stands. Having been abandoned for quite some years, this reputation has only increased. Used briefly by the League during its conquest of the region, as a military facility, it was abandoned once more after the war, leaving its vast halls and corridors empty once more.   The Castle is built around a great central structure, which can only be accessed by a single narrow trail up the mountain, around which are 4 enormous towers, exquisite and ancient carvings of old ancestral figures and the great blue domes lined in ancient metals each, it is quite a splendor to behold in the light, and a somewhat ominous sight in the dark, especially when it takes in the light and illuminates the night, like a second moon, hovering above the townships.   Beneath the great central structure, are further passages and halls and corridors carved into the mountain, with the same elven craftsmanship one would expect, leading to the great circular chamber, in which it's center is dominated by an elven world well, a strange device found in many ruins across the league, great platforms of silver and stone, pillars with eldritch runes and magical symbols, holding aloft a great gemstone, far to large to have been brought down there via the tunnels, and single great doorway, which has so far never been opened, it's mechanics a mystery, and even the great magicians of the Sephinan Hold and beyond have been unable to prod their way into it.
