Dominion of Felion

The Dominion of Felion is the largest 'nation' on the continent of  Igniya. Even if it is usually referred to as a sovereign nation, it is clearly under the rule of the Empire of Stanver and serves more as a less obvious extension of the Empire's territory on the newly discovered continent

Felion and especially its capital
Frontal have become something akin to beacons of hope and promise to those, who are desperate for change and the thrill of discovery. A new nation, offering work, plenty of opportunity, freedom and a political system, which (in theory) would allow even the common people a say in the fate of the country. Accordingly most people (and even some of the Penal Legionaries) are higly motivated and ready to do their part in assuring the success of Felion's endeavors on Igniya.

Structure

The Dominion of Felion is nominally ruled by the  Assembly of Felion's People. Said Assembly is a large group of people, representing the citizens of the nation. Members of the assembly are taken from the general populace of the settlements within the nation, some by the merit of their achievemnts and others through a process of random selection. Very few of the seats within the Assembly are permanent, which is seen as a positive, despite the considerable organizational effort, which has to put up to ensure smooth proceedings. People view this system as mostly reliable and good in representing the interests of all citizens of the Felion.

Culture

Felion's people, though largely of Stanverian descent, are very free-spirited and open-minded. Many of those coming to the New World are quite hardy and willing to endure the uncomfortable conditions, presented by their new home, in order to gain more freedom and the ability to govern one's own fate more directly.

Public Agenda

The government of Felion has set the well-being and freedom of its citizens as the most important points of its agenda, which even seems believable, when the nation's form of government and the spirit of its people is taken into consideration. Of course the nation as a whole is looking for more autonomy too, even if the support of the Empire of Stanver is quite helpful in securing the newly settled territory.

Assets

A highly motivated and often capable populace, ready to do whatever it takes to ensure everyone's continued survival is Felion's most important asset. The imperial support has recently ebbed off slightly, but there is still plenty of access to imperial technology and resources. The land, which is claimed by Felion luckily is rich in all manner of natural resources too, which allows the settlers to be self-sufficient in most areas.

History

The Dominion of Felion was established in the year 107 of the Tatham era by explorers of the  Empire of Stanver, shortly after they discovered the, until then unknown, continent of Igniya. The newly established nation quickly started flourishing and soon showed signs of dissent, due to high trade tariffs and taxes. The unrest led to a small uprising in the settlement of Dunsted, which was quashed by imperial troops. After this incident the SCA was created and Felion was put under its close supervision
