Session 13 Report
General Summary
Smo'sby 8 Redfall 834EA
In the morning, the family are slow to rise and the children especially irritable. While they all each breakfast, Harthe, Pōtiki, Suiadan Innion and Bain de Soleil discuss in hushed voices, the nature of the note they had found in the captain's tent. Shu points out that the handwriting is very similar to the note they'd found in the slavers' camp by the Valpinal Expanse on the border of Cleroy and Chambon, and they speculated about who or what was behind it all. They set off again and by early afternoon, the children had fallen asleep in the back of the cart. Pip flew over above and a bit ahead of the party and at mid morning flew back to Harthe to telepathically report to him that there were large birds flying overhead a group of large spiders. Bain offered to stay guard of the cart and family while the others went ahead to investigate and clear the way, singing a quick ditty to each of them to inspire them before they left. The birds were giant eagles and were attacking the giant spiders that were coming out of a cave along the coast. The party first contemplated leaving them to whittle the numbers down, but one of the birds spotted them and started heading their way to attack. The three birds and five spiders were quickly dispatched with, some via the party and others via each other, Shu's fireball spell in particular proved very effective. Pip died in the skirmish though. Once they were clear, Pō and Shu investigated the cave to see if there was any loot but merely found several spider egg sacs and spiderwebs. Shu used create bonfire to burn it all. The only other remains were old bones. The party returned to Bain and the family and they continued westward, with Harthe in the back of the cart with the children while he performed an hour long ritual to bring Pip back. Eventually night began to fall and they made camp in a clearing off the path. Bain performed Leomund's Tiny Hut spell and they slept in shifts for the night. During the first watch, Shu could periodically hear on the wind far off in the distance, the sound of a woman singing, often followed by a louder than usual crash of waves. He was concerned but could tell it was far off and did not seem to be getting closer. When it was time for Pō to take second watch, he warned them of the singing. Pō could hear it too but agreed it was not an immediate threat and they would listen out and wake Shu and the others if it got closer. It did not seem to sound closer at any point during their watch. They woke Harthe when it was time for the third watch of the night but though Pō told him of the singing, he did not hear it at all.Hossen 9 Redfall 834EA
In the morning the family took a lot to wake up. Shu got frustrated when they took a while to eat breakfast and picked up Lucca Antovia and set off, carrying the child and telling the others to hurry up. Pō told him he could not just take the child without his family, but he called back that they better catch up then. He was very nervous carrying Luc but the boy seemed to be having fun and was intrigued by the eladrin's hair now being red as opposed to its former white colour. He kept stroking it and asked if Shu painted it or if it was blood and if it was blood, was 'the funny elf man' ok? The anxious parents and rest of the party and boy's sister quickly caught up and kept pace with Shu, and Pip resumed his post flying above and ahead of the party to scout. Bain sat in the back of the cart with Jennivere Antovia and fell asleep after a while. In the late morning, Pip flew back to Harthe to report sighting of a singing woman further ahead with a fish tail sitting on a rock atop a cliff to the right of the coastal path, with large waves washing over the path below her in response to her singing. Bain and the family stayed with the cart again and Harthe, Pō, and Shu walked ahead. They decided to climb up the cliff to venture towards the singing woman. Shu climbed first, being boosted by Pō. Once he finally managed to clamber to the top, Pō tossed him a piton from her pack and Shu set it into the ground and tied a rope to it and tossed the rope down for the others to climb up. At the top of the cliff, they walked toward the singing woman that they eventually identified to be a mermaid. Harthe called out to her to stop singing so that they can continue along the path, but she raised her spear towards them. A battle ensued where the mermaid was quickly killed, but a water elemental rose out of the waves and began to attack the group. Pō was enveloped by the elemental during the fight and started to drown until Harthe was able to reach out and pull the firbolg out and thunderstep away with them. Eventually the water elemental was also destroyed. Shu began to chop off the tail of the mermaid and asked the others if they felt like eating fish with him. The tail meat did not look like fish though and the others told him that it was like eating people and that was bad. Shu said they didn't have to eat it if they didn't want to and created a bonfire to cook it on. Harthe and Pō, somewhat repulsed, returned to the cart and told the family and Bain not to eat anything Shu offered them. They reached the part of the path that had been washed away a little by the water elemental, and slowly guided the horses each past and managed to squeeze the cart past, first making the family walk in case the cart fell off the path. Once they were past the eroded section of the path, they stopped to eat their own gathered shellfish and food while they waited for Shu to finish his meal on the top of the cliff and make his way down. In mid afternoon they set off again until night began to fall and they stopped to make camp for what they guessed would be the final night before they reach Tolyapol.Character(s) interacted with
