Session 20 Report
General Summary
Follen 16 Redfall 834EA
Having infiltrated the stronghold and passed the stone golem sentinel, Suiadan Innion in his rat form attempted to peek and listen under each of the two doors out of the room with the golem in. He could only see a wall at the north door, but under the east door while he couldn't see anything, he could hear voices of people arguing in hushed voices. He tried to report back to Pōtiki and Harthe but being in mouse form, they could not understand him. Harthe used a detect thoughts spell to make sense of what Suiadan was trying to tell them and then moved to the door to try and detect the thoughts of the people beyond. He discovered they were arguing about money. Noting that he and Pō were still disguised as the people they had fought outside, and the north door was locked, he decided to just walk right in and try act natural. Inside, they saw a female drow, a female dragonborn, and a male human surrounding a small pile of gold. The female dragonborn immediately noticed Harthe and Pō and asked them what they were doing there, calling them Raven and Chex and saying they should still be guarding outside. The drow and human attempted to hide the gold by standing in front of it. Harthe told them that the others had it covered but there had been an attack so they needed to let the boss know. The dragonborn seemed suspicious but let it go when Harthe deferred the conversation to inquire about what they were hiding. The human suggested they cut 'Raven' and 'Chex' in and explained they were trying to decide how much they could get away with keeping for themselves and how much to deliver to "the Captain". While in discussion, Pō's disguise dropped as the spell timed out. The dragonborn, human, and drow all drew weapons and a fight ensued. Suiadan dropped his mouse form and he, Pō and Harthe took down the drow and dragonborn, while Harthe charmed the human man to help them get to the captain. They learnt his name was Mug. Harthe asked him to take them the most direct way to see the Captain. Mug disarmed a trapped door to the north and unlocked it leading to a room that had nothing in it but a stone in the centre with a slot in the top and a mirror across an entire wall. Before the characters had a chance to do anything or look around, Mug put a sword into the slot and a door to the north opened up. The group wandered into the next room which turned out to be a dormitory in which a female human and a male dwarf were sleeping in two of the beds. Though trying to sneak past without waking them, Harthe caught his foot on of the beds which made a loud noise waking the male dwarf. The dwarf first noticed Mug and Harthe disguised as Raven and told them to quieten down and then noticed Pō and Suiadan and grabbed his weapons. The ensuing fight woke the sleeping woman and she too joined the fight. Harthe, Pō and Suiadan hear that the woman's name was Lara and the dwarf's name was Lustag. They were soon downed though and Mug immediately led the group through a door to the west. The next room was small and non-descript and Mug turned right through to a corridor which led to a T-intersection of corridor. He led them to the right and stopped at the door at the end, telling them that the Captain's quarters were behind the door. They told him to go in but he said no because no one of his station was allowed in. Harthe told him to knock on the door and draw the Captain out. Mug tried but did not succeed, instead being told to deal with the issue himself. Harthe tried instead and was also rebuffed. Giving up on the attempt to draw her out, Harthe instead opened the door and entered Captain Adzel's quarters. Angry at being disturbed by her subordinates but then spotting the undisguised Pō and Suiadan, she drew weapons and called a stone golem into the room. At that point, the charm spell on Mug also dropped and he started to attack. An intense and difficult battle ensued but eventually the party felled all three enemies, but the noise drew three more bandits from the other end of the corridor they had passed on their way to the captain's quarters. The venturers felled these three bandits also, Harthe casting a loud thunderwave at the risk of drawing more enemies. After a few moments, the party felt assured that no more enemies were coming and started fossicking around the captain's quarters for loot and information. They found a locked chest but could not find a way to open it. They looted Captain Adzel's body and found a key to a locked draw of her desk. They found some letters from 'Y' to 'A' and some coin. They also found an unfinished letter she seemed to have been in the middle of drafting when she was interrupted by the party.Notes
LETTERS FOUND ON CAPTAIN ADZEL'S DESK:
A, I have heard word of a powerful wizard going by the name 'Wiley' recently captured in Nuvar. I have yet to make connections in Cleroy but wonder if you can assist or have connections to assist with breaking him out and bringing him into my ranks. His skills could prove useful. -Y
A, I am pleased to hear you have found a suitable place to set up a stronghold. This is most fortuitous. I wish to hear of the progress in the Lyushin Wilds. Time is of the essence. -YUnfinished letter:
Y, We have a few parties in the Lyushin Wilds scouting the area but without detail of what they are looking for, we are having little luck. We have had reports of an area deep in the wilds where a corruption exists and nothing grows. A party barely made it out alive from that area as they were set upon but an angry spirit creature. Maybe it is guarding the thing you seek? More information would be helpful. We have suffered several losses of late. Several of our ambush camps have been wiped out by an unknown band of adventurers. Analysis suggests high powered spellcasters but their whereabouts are unknown. We are regrouping to strat-
