Session 5 Report

General Summary

Harthe, Suiadan Innion and Pōtiki went to the area Shoo had marked on his map called Shadow Grove as pointed out to him by Hawk Hargrave at The Copper Kettle. It was the middle of the day and they could not see anything unusual about the area beyond being a clearing in the Taesai Woods and there being some unusual scarecrows around, presumably to protect the haphazardly growing pumpkins around the edges of the clearing. Harthe sent his familiar, a pseudodragon he calls Pip into the sky to see what he can see, but he could not see anything untoward. Pō had a think about it and came to the conclusion that if they were going to see anything, it would be at night. They decided to bide their time a bit away from the clearing till nightfall. At nightfall, they spotted The Mother in the clearing, surrounded by some of her followers. Luneli was at the edge of the clearing guarding and anyone who wanted entry had to say a password to her. The adventurers listened in and learnt that the password was 'Mother, May I?'. They went to Luneli and said the password and were let in. However they were followed by Hawk who did not hear the password and got attacked by some of the scarecrows who came to life. Shoo tried to stop them but got attacked in the process. Shoo refused to hit back and tried to mediate, but Hawk kept fighting the scarecrows who fought back. As he fought, he told the others that they needed to hurry and save Brogol or he will die. He then received a killing blow from a scarecrow and died. The party returned to The Copper Kettle to Brogol's room and updated Horren Grumdor . Brogol is on death's door. They decided that they would not help V'linder Odami and Pō killed him and a white silvery gaseous substance was pulled out of his body and through Pō's hand. They took the 1000GP from him and then spent the rest of the night sleeping at The Copper Kettle.

Sonden 27 Vindenn

The next morning the adventurers met downstairs and have breakfast in the main hall. They told Luneli about Brogol's dead body upstairs and she told them she'd take care of it and thanked them for their help and for keeping the town's secret safe. They talked about their plans to journey south and Harthe pointed out the next town on their way was the town of Melar. Horren told them that he had business in Rouvray to take care of and that he would have to leave them. He offered to meet with V'linder to deter him from bothering the people of Baelis, perhaps to kill him. Luneli overheard him and asked them to wait for a bit before leaving. She left and returned with a large stone with a strophalos design and was split in half. She told them that if Horren takes one half and they keep the other they could keep in touch up to once per day through a magic sending spell imbued in the stones. They thanked her and waved Horren off. They then set off for Melar. They arrived in Melar at nightfall and went to The Viridian Flask which was the only inn there. Inside, they ordered rooms and meals from the Innkeeper Silar. Shoo decided to go outside to sleep. Harthe spotted his childhood friend Bain de Soleil, a tabaxi bard playing music to the patrons. She joined him and Pō at their table and she told them about her travels. They ask her if she wants to join them on their adventures and she agrees.
