Omnios
Omnios is the largest continent on Illon. It is notable for its very diverse population that has blended cultures more than any of the other continents.
Geography
Omnios is notable for its massive Chasms that carve across it. These Chasms are said to have been formed in an ancient battle between the Gods and Giants. Throughout Omnios' history, these Chasms have often been used to draw borders between kingdoms.
Climate
Being as large as it is, Omnios contains many different climates from the desert of the Yuan-Ti Empire to the icy mountains of Jotunheim.
History
Omnios, being the largest continent in Illon, has had a long history of rulers trying to conquer all of it. It has never been done, but it is a common goal among rulers who want to prove themselves. This history has also meant borders that shift regularly, and cultural lines being blurred. The people of Omnios are far more likely to belong to several cultures or races.
This culture has even spread to the Elves that appeared in the beginning of the First Era. They interact much more with other races and live among them, rather than having separated societies like they do in Eagremond.
When the Evil Overlord conquered much of Eagremond and began creating colonies in Omnios, the threat of him also conquering Omnios was very real. The people of Omnios began adopting the terms First Era and Second Era that were widespread in Eagremond. However, in the grand scheme of Omniosan history, the Evil Overlord had a much smaller effect than other rulers did. Therefore, the people of Omnios are far more likely to colloquially refer to time periods based on the conquerors that lived during that time.
Notable periods of Omniosan History include the early First Era, when the Emperer of the Yuan-Ti Empire conquered most of the South.
The United Giff Republic was formed when the Giff, Minotaurs, and Loxodon banded together to declare independence from the Yuan-Ti Empire.
The Owlin rebelled, forming the Ga'Hoole Dominion, a cruel empire that conquered the entire East, including much of what was formerly the Yuan-Ti Empire.
Later, during the Second Era, the 7th President of the United Giff Republic attempted to expand their borders across the continent.
This angered the Giants and Goliaths living in the North. Tired of the constant attempts to conquer them, they attacked, conquered and subjugated almost all of Omnios. This was the closest anybody came to conquering the entire continent. This period is widely known as the Terror of the Giants. Towards the end of the Second Era, the giants receded to the North.
In the early Third Era, Omnios has reached a temporary peace. None of its rules are currently upsetting the balance. Its people are left to wonder how long this will last.
