The Black Gulf

Geography

The Black Gulf is a series of dozens of islands that have formed to the North East of the Continent of Strauga. The Islands of the Black Gulf are often volcanic which gives the water its namesake, when near any of the volcanic islands the water itself with roll and bubble with black ash giving it a cruel and dangerous gaze.

Ecosystem

Aside from the many common creatures that inhabit the islands and water the Black Gulf is also host to leviathans, creatures of untold sizes that appear and disappear ripping ships into the inky black depths for whatever purposes they may have.

Localized Phenomena

The waters of the Black Gulf themselves are cursed by a supernatural creature whom some belief is the mythical Davy Jones. The curse pulls any who die within the Black Gulfs waters to be swept to the realm known as the locker.
