Session 2 - The Search for Spyridon
General Summary
With the revelry continuing all around the group searching for Spyridon, Theresa was about to leave, before noticing Abraxas trying to get Pyro's attention. Finally meeting up with him, Lenora, and Ischyrós, she and Pyro learned that they were also searching for Spyridon. While speaking, they were approached by Pollos - another cloth merchant who had come on the Eiat - the same ship as Ischyros. The man had been looking for his compatriot at the brothel, and was able to tail them to the market. Unsure what his absence meant, they became concerned, and decided to set off in search of the old man. The revelers continued to follow them, but Pyro tricked them into raiding a wine merchant's stall, and in the confusion, the five were able to break away and leave the marketplace.
But having escaped from the revelers, the search party did not know where to start. They followed Abraxas back to his room, where he conducted a ritual to divine the location of Master Spyridon. The vision suggested seeking him in the sea, or in the Underworld. Unsure of the meaning, the searchers decided to go to the docks to see what they might learn. There, they noticed that the Elat - Pollos' and Ischyros' ship, had sailed out to sea. Eliciting the assistance of some fishers after convincing them to search for a possibly drowning man, they scoured the coastline for signs of Spyridon or his body, but found nothing. Following the Elat appeared impossible, as the merchant ship was much speedier than the fishing boat, and was disappearing over the horizon. However, Lenora found Spyridon's necklace on shore, and nearby, some strands of fabric that Pollos suggested looked like they had been ripped from a sack, and possibly, one of the old man's teeth. These pieces of evidence suggested a kidnapping of Master Spyridon had occurred. But was the Elat taking him back to Ammayat, and for what reason? Abraxas' dove had flown around the Elat, and somehow communicated to him that the crew appeared to be unarmed or lightly armed, making it unlikely that they were pirates. There was no sign of Spyridon on board.
With night growing closer, making further efforts to locate Master Spyridon untenable, the group concluded that the old man was probably not thrown overboard, but taken by the men on the ship. All gave Theresa their word that they would continue to search for Spyridon even if it meant following the ship across the sea. Having given their pledge, all sought to make accommodations for the night. Pollos returned to the brothel. Ischyros decided to bunk with Abraxas in his room. Theresa and Pyro went to search for their cart, and amazingly, were able to locate it near the marketplace. Most of the revelers had left, but the market was now crawling with soldiers trying to establish order. Pyro was able to convince the pair that the cart belonged to them, but as they headed out of Ormos, he and Theresa learned that all the wine in nearby establishments was gone, or had mysteriously turned to water.
Lenora, as was her wont, went off toward the graveyard. She found it occupied by revelers, and was approached, by the same aggressive youth who had attempted to get her to join in the dance at the market earlier in the day. The man gives her a thyrsus, but after he tried to grab her, Lenora conjured a light to distract him, and subsequently, fled to an unoccupied part of the graveyard to seek solitude.
Despite the growing sense of unease, rest came to each person, slowly and surely.
