Ainia (eye-NEE-uh)

Ainia is the estranged wife of the pantheon's leader, Kalak.  They were the first two deities created by Daiad the Shaper, and they in turn created Kavrillia.  They argued about how much of the planet should be covered in land or water.  Ainia advocated for more oceans, and when Kalak would not relent she became enraged and plucked out one of his eyes.  Ainia is thus depicted with two normal eyes, representing the smaller moons of Kavrillia, and one larger, brighter eye in the middle of her forehead, representing the largest moon and the eye she stole from her husband.   Ainia is the goddess of the oceans, moons, and storms.  Worshipers may engage in ritual bathing at her shrines.   Her fickle nature and volatile temper are seen by some scholars as the root of misogyny in Vincaran culture.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The three eyes in a triangle are a common symbol for Ainia.  Her shrines are often decorated in blue and aqua, evoking the oceans.  The grekk is considered an agent of Ainia's divine wrath, used to strike down anyone who overstays their welcome on Her waters.

Tenets of Faith

Vincarans pray to Ainia for protection or mercy during times of destructive weather like storms, floods or droughts, and when there are ominous signs in the sky like eclipses or comets.
