Tegumare (TEG-yu-M-air)
"I slew the warrior. His armor operated him like a puppet, so I slew him again. We were too busy to notice the armor grabbing Themmie. Poor bugger had to fight us, too. We made sure we tore the armor apart after, just to be sure."
~Midja Bürkli, Sheriff of Port Hugo
Basic Information
Anatomy
Tegumare are Biomanced mutations born of Brain Grubs. They consist of thin, amorphous membranes resembling a sort of red slime mold. Once attached to a victim, they develop chitinous plates nearly as hard as steel.
Genetics and Reproduction
When tegumares grow large enough, they split in half and become two tegumares.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Tegumares feed on confidence. As such, they prefer to attach to someone with an abundance of it.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Tegumares are armor crafted by Biomancers. They are designed to be living armor.
While not necessarily dangerous on their own, they can continue fighting if motivated to do so after their host has died by using the corpse as a framework. In rare cases, particularly powerful tegumares can attempt to infest a living opponent and take over the use of their bodies.
Average Intelligence
Tegumares are as intelligent as their host.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Tegumare can sense thoughts of any creature intelligent enough to wear them.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
Tegumares require a host who is sufficiently confident in their abilities.
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Lifespan
30-100 years.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The slime of a Tegumare's flesh varies from blood red to dull gray.
