Events in the history of Lerulious that altered borders or established new nations
Ryuushin becomes the last of the dragons of Lerulious by slaying his final kin, Vialdara. He rules Vialdara's lands, as well as the rest of Lerulious, with an iron claw.
Ryuushin grows tired of micromanaging the full scope of his massive empire, and foists the duties onto human proxies in Eastern Lerulious. The Dulobun and Faheem territories are required to continue to submit offerings to the Dragon King, but are otherwise left to their own devices.
Along with a handful of close allies, Arya manages to bring together an army through appeals to the Human spirit and bids for freedom. The armies of Dulobun, led by Braig, the Mage General of Dulobun, join their might to his.
Arya and his army invade Vialdara travelling North of the Spine mountain range and skirting the eastern edge of the Great Pentella Desert. Ryuushin commands his subjects to drive them off, but chooses not to engage the army personally.
The Archsage Werdon gives nine Holy Weapons to Arya and his lieutenant as their war effort stalls.
Ryuushin, the Last Dragon King is slain in his keep by Arya with Cyridon. Most of Ryuushin's castle is completely destroyed by the battle and his remaining loyal soldiers are executed or fell during the battle.
Arya, The Hero King takes control of Vialdara, and renames the country as Fonzia. Ryuushin's ruined castle becomes the groundwork for the city of Fonal, the capital of Fonzia.
In face of massive support for Arya and Fonzia, and distaste for the ruling administration of Dulobun, the civil authorities of Dulobun cede their power to the Hero King. The Dulobun territory becomes officially part of Fonzia. Faheem remains independent, but has a good trade relationship with Fonzia and even sends gifts to the Hero King on occasion.
Arya, The Hero King delegates power in Fonzia to several of his allies in hopes of better running his massive kingdom. After much deliberation, Kraem heads west. Grast heads east to the former Dulobun city of Ogre Run. Paris Heads southwest to Norferry, a major agricultural center.
Arya comes to the conclusion that the cause of Jugder Arya's death could be attributed to the difficulty in travel for merchants carrying medicines and traders. He institutes a heavy, sweeping tax across his domain to fund a complete overhaul of infrastructure.
Heavy taxation makes the task of Arya's administrators difficult, and causes public resentment that rises with each passing month, particularly in far flung regions of Fonzia.
Unwilling to continue supplying Arya with the taxes of his territory, Kraem sends a messenger to the capital in Stillwater to falsely claim that anticipated payments were intercepted by bandits. Over the summer and into the fall, Kraem forms his discontented populace into an army and slows outgoing trade. All the while, he sends messengers, explaining delays in payment and ignoring exhortations to send the required tax. In Allsgather, he sends a final messenger, armed with a crushing declaration, The Traitor's Scroll. He names the territory Kiulmaa, in honor of a legendary fisherman.
Incensed by The Traitor's Scroll, Arya marshalles his forces and declares war against the rebel forces in the west of Lerulious. Thus begins the Kraemian War of Secession.
Capitalizing on the fatigue felt by Fonzia, Grast withdraws his troops from their rearguard position and declares the territory he manages to be Dubria, the sovereign Kingdom, in his message to Arya, The Letter of Secession. This move shocks Arya, The Hero King and his subordinates. As the year is late, Arya does not immediately open hostilities with Grast's territory and soldiers, but begins planning for it all the same.
Jarneff Faheem orders a complete halt to all trade to the western countries of Dubria, Fonzia, and Kiulmaa, citing a desire for political neutrality as the Kraemian War of Secession grows in scope and length. There is relatively little pushback from Dubria, and none from Kiulmaa, but Fonzia sends a messenger to ask that trade be reopened immediately. The request is denied.
Forced to end campaign season by the winter weather again, Arya, The Hero King dispatches messengers to Dubria and Kiulmaa to declare his recognition of their sovereignty and to request peace. The messages are answered before the year is out and marks an end to the Kraemian War of Secession.
Negotiations between Arya, The Hero King and Moralus (acting as an intermediary for Kraem), and Dubria Grast (representing Grast), finally reach the beginnings of trade agreements between Fonzia and the two newly formed nations.
Jarneff Faheem declares war on Dubria in response to their eastern expansion into territory that Faheem claims. Almost immediately, Fonzia withdraws all trade with Dubria. After a year of skirmishes, Grast moves to the front to challenge Jarneff on the field, and gravely wounds him. Faheem eventually delivers a letter of truce to Grast, ceding the disputed lands in exchange for peace. Following the return to peace, trade between Dubria and Fonzia resumes.
Less than a month after ascending the throne, Maedus Faheem declares war against Dubria in retaliation for the death of his father and the capture of their territory in The First Dubrian War. During the short peace between the First Dubrian War and this act of aggression, Maedus had been drilling his armies, and the force that he brought to bear was significantly more capable than those led by his father three short years ago. Regardless, Faheem saw little success in the war. Though Fort Vesteem did succumb to an assault, it was retaken again in the same year. The Dubrian counteroffensive campaign was slow and steady, pushing Faheem's forces and borders ever further back. Though the people of Faheem resist at every step, the slow push of the Dubrian army is as inevitable as the return of the Moon. Despite foreign aid to Dubria being cut in the 56th Year of Record, and general fatigue from the people of Dubria with the war, the push does not end, though it does slow. The war eventually ends with an assault on Faheem's capital city, Maylif, where Grast personally ends Maedus' life. Dubria annexes Faheem as its broken and battered military surrenders with the death of their ruler.
High taxation and foreign aid being sent to Dubria asking nothing in return eventually forces the people of Kiulmaa past their breaking point. Riots erupt across the city, tax collectors are jailed, and the country becomes ungovernable. Even so, Kraem adamantly refuses to suspend aid to Dubria for their war effort. Moralus is forced to take matters into her own hands and attempts to subdue Kraem in order to take the throne. Kraem chooses to draw Tyran, and Moralus draws Polaris in return, and Kraem is killed in the exchange. Kraem is later interred in Vilvara, and Moralus takes over the rule of the country, immediately relaxing taxation and halting shipments to Dubria.
Following the death of Maedus Faheem and the surrender of the armies of Faheem, rather than naming a steward of the region, Grast completely dissolves the state and appoints his own military leaders to govern the region. Faheem's currency is phased out, and their mint burned down.
Arya, The Hero King steps down as ruler of Fonzia, having made significant and public preparations for this day due to his advanced age and failing health. Jung Arya succeeds him, and accepts his coronation the same day.
Arya passes on following a long struggle with an ailment of the heart. The world mourns his loss, even in Kiulmaa and Dubria.
