Vakeros

The Vakeros is the Shianti, or elf name for the battle-mages of Dessi, and the name they go by when addressing their order.

They are a formal military order managed through the Dessi Military.  Rather than being deployed as groups of mages, they are often embedded within other military units.  Many of the rulers of Dessi began their careers among the Vakeros.  

The Vakeros are all practitioners of a Dessi style of Magi Magic .  The members of their order have no social strictures against wearing armor or wielding melee weapons.  When accepting their commission as Vakeros, they take upon custom facial tattoos that mark them among the Dessi citizenry.
