Issue 7: Commitees and Cacodemons
General Summary
With Gateway City safely back in hyperdimensional space, the New Guardians were ready for some downtime.
Typhon spent some time with Hierophant, who was still gravely wounded but back on his feet. While the two worked repairing the various damaged armors, Hierophant dispensed advice on secret identities, and the importance of keeping them if you wanted to have any normal things in your life.
Typhon visited Valour intent on getting him out of his empty flat. There was much discussion of vegetarian fare in a post apocalyptic city. The pair decided to went minigolfing at Captain Harlow's Treasure Planet. Misty Moon magically appeared out of nowhere looking for some company. Typhon outgolfed everyone. Valour drank his body weight in Mountain Dew. Then they went to a wrestling match where the heel Cannibal Crawford defeated Captain Flapjacks, taking the Live Action Wrestling championship belt. Misty suggested the trio join the committe for the upcoming school dance.
The dance comittee was meeting at The Third Rail. Quinn, class president introduced himself and his friend An. They thought about a space pirate themed dance, but ended up on The Silvermane Chronicles theme. Quinn's dad happened to be a movie producer of the upcoming Silvermane movie, and had some connections that could help. Further more, he was friends with the ingénue Madeline Rose. She went to a nearby school and was set to play the lead character, Clarissa, in the movie version of the book. (Valour lost his ability to think or speak for a bit as his mind was blown.)
Typhon called up Danger X and asked him be her date to the dance in a very cute exchange.
Valour called home to speak to Ambrosious Burns, knight of Aetheria. He approved of Valour further investigating the Vanguard leads he found on The Polygon (see NG Issue 6!)
Team decided to visit Hall of Legends to see how repairs were going. Ratchet had gotten the computer and comms back online. Typhon wanted to know if there were any other magic users in the city who could assist in finding Misty's missing amulet (way back in NG Issue 3), which could assist in bringing the city home. The computers limited down the powerful mages still in the city to one Doctor Abraxus.
Doctor Abraxus was contacted and suggested they meet in Mason. On the flight over, Valour asked Misty to be his date to the dance. She happily agreed.
Upon arriving, Misty and the Doctor cast a ritual to find the amulet. A dark portal opened between them, knocking them both out, and out of the pit stepped a shadowy demon. He professed to possess the amulet, having traded it for the souls of lost children, and was willing to bargain. Typhon was not. She and valour smashed the demon into a thousand black shards with a one-two punch.
The demon unfortunately did not actually have the amulet on him. Valour took up the task of cleaning up the mess they had made. Abraxus thought there were other ways to find where the demon had hidden the amulet, and would get back to the team.
Next week: The big dance!
