Session 07: Aftermath Report

General Summary

Oceanus speaks old-fashionably

Virion and Melody had a heated debate on loyalty to the empire

Six crew members leave - the crow's nest one, the two downstairs, the one who was tied up, and the two waiting for Sanbalet's crew.

They go to reason with the Lizardfolk who, upon realizing their weapon shipments have been interrupted, attack. Virion launches a Scorching Ray, Raiden does a shocking bite, and the lizardfolk attack Mystan - doing very little - and Fishcod - doing much more damage - followed by Virion leaping from the rear tower, sprinting into the fray, and slashing at the lizardfolk with a Green Flame Bladesong.

Fishcod uses their own Green Flame Blade, and Mystan summons a Spiritual Weapon in the form of a giant dragon's claw, immediately killing one of them and liquefying it's organs. A second attack misses another Lizardfolk, barely. Melody casts Cloud of Daggers, lacerating yet another one to death. Finally, Raiden delivers the killing blow to the last Lizardfolk.

Melody vomits over the side at the sight of all this blood, and Virion sheaths his sword dramatically.

Fishcod does the thing and searches the bodies - finding nothing but "clubs in the pockets of their scales". Virion goes below decks to search the crew's quarters, and Melody.

Melody, Virion, and Oceanus discuss naming conventions.

Bimz bonds with Melody

Fishcod drinks some of the nasty swamp wine, and they find the electrum.

Half the party gets Lt. Johnny - who is very tired and confused - and some of the night gaurd to pilot the Sea Ghost into harbor (which becomes the talk of the town), and the other half (Virion and Melody) load up all of Sanbalet's contraband onto the boat. Johnny is irritated the party didn't mention any of this, and Captain Siguard along with Punketah are taken to the jail after the ship is docked at dawn.

Melody and Virion have yet another philosophical debate while on the ship, revealing some of Virion's backstory. Melody prioritizes the continuation of the jan pana people, and fears for the future of their children, while Virion is prioritizing survival.

They decode the note, learning of Gellan's dealings in an Arcane Cocaine. Eliander is heated, especially over Melody's total disregard for the law or loyalty to the crown.

The trial occurs, Eva gets a year of hard labor and a year of community service, while Sanbalet is hung. It's a solemn occasion. Fishcod and Mystan deliver Andri's body to Eli, Fishcod sleeps in the woods while the other three head to the The Wicker Goat. There, Melody explains she's planning to leave town - partially because she basically committed treason - and she doesn't much vibe with the party. Virion calls her bluff - she's looking for something. Melody initially claims it's loot, but Virion presses more, and offers to use his connections to find something - or someone. Initially defensive, Melody confesses; she's looking for her wife, Lilian. She'll leave for Seaton - and potentially the Silverstand - and she is planning to leave.

A newsboy suddenly bursts in, and declares Gellan Primewater has been temporarily arrested and sent to Seaton. In a month there will be a new election for an interim council member, Maria Primewater has already announced her candidacy. Lankus Kurrid wants to run as well "for law and order"

On "Sunday", Mr. Anders Solmor approaches Fishcod, asking what exactly Captain Fireborn put the party up to. Fishcod answers truthfully, and Anders thanks them for thier time. The party - sans Melody, who already left - is then called by the council. Concerned by the Lizardfolk's amassing of weapons, the council asks them to investigate. The party - now with Mannistrad's friend, Uk-thin Rolsar - is tasked with:
  1. Figuring out why they're stockpiling weapons.

  2. Scout the lizardfolk lair out

  3. And figure out the tribe's strength and size.

700 gp reward is offered as a reward. The party opts to travel via the Sea Ghost, the council will provide a few gaurdsmen and sailor volunteers to man the ship.

Back at the The Snapping Line, Virion confronts Fishcod on their sketchy behavior and magic. Fishcod deflects, and the arguement goes on as all parties are a bit tipsy. Fishcod mentions they're kind of from "that way", pointing down. They give the name of the town, but Virion is unfamiliar with it. Upon asking where the town is, Fishcod deflects more, but ultimately tells Virion that they're from underground, in a cave. Virion realizes, that this is the region of Deepearth - or the Underdark. Virion then confronts Fishcod on their non-human-ness, eventually revealing they are a Drow. The clothes are revealed to be a disguise, and now they've been brought into all this mess. Also, they have a psuedo-irish accent.

Fishcod gets Seasick

Show spoiler
Lizards, apparently, have fully retractible penises, which solves part of the dragonborn biology debate.
