Izora Mines
Ancient History
A collection of ancient Dwarven Gold, Silver, and Gem Mines in the Rayesha Mountains dating back around a thousand years. The Dwarves abandoned them in 120TR after Lothrim the Foulspawner sacked the Kingdom of Kiraz.
Legends have it that they buried and hid great treasures deep within some of the shafts; however, no one has discovered any such riches. Other myths say they dug too deep, uncovered secrets and horrors best left buried.
Recent History
These Mines were rediscovered in 590TR and mined for almost 100 years until they were overrun by one of the nearby Orc Kingdoms. In 685TR with all miners and guards butchered.
The mines have been reoccupied in 723TR by the Miners Guild supported by several influential senators from the Thardic Republic and the Order of the Lord of Chaos. Security is provided by the Company of Dead Men.
Threats
To date, it is considered a too risky and costly enterprise to reopen the mines. Two major Orc nations, the Qustup and Gedyf, directly threaten the Mine. They are known to skirmish over the territory around the Mines.
The Kabloqui Barbarians technically pose a threat, as access to the Mines is though their tribal range, but they viewed little more than a nuisance, much more likely to beg for food than attack.
