Session 68: The Rejoining of Land and Sea
General Summary
The party continued to battle the Oleander forces trying to hold back the kudzu vines. Zadoc's plant growth aided in the kudzu vine's advance and the party were able to defeat the last of the Oleander forces. With the force holding back the kudzu, Acacia's vines began to advance at a startling pace. The party returned to the city without impedement from the advancing vines. The party took a brief rest and respite, waiting for the vines to reach the walls.
At the end of their rest, the party started to hear sounds of conflict and emergency. The innkeep told the party that everyone was advised to remain indoors, but the party went out into the streets. There they saw the vines encroaching on walls as wizards and soldiers rushed to the walls to try to halt their advance.
This being the distraction that the party had planned, they went to the dinghy and traveled out to where Narahm, the Leviathan, was being held, keeping both Donk and Mimsey behind at the inn. Using water breathing rings, the party returned undersea to Narahm. Since the plinths formed a barrier that restricted fey beings from crossing, the half-elves remained on the outside while the others moved in. Zadoc returned the spear to Narahm and the iron spike was removed from his wound. His strength began to return and with the spear in hand, he destroyed the plinths that created the barrier. He told the party to flee quickly, as he would be soon transforming to aid Acacia.
The party returned to the dinghy and to the shore. Zadoc, who swam faster arrived first to hurry to the inn. As he headed there, a giant kraken rose from where Narahm was, removing his glamour to his true form. Giant tentacles reached from the sea, curling around the Great Lighthouse, snapping it and causing it to crumble down into the sea. The wizards fighting the reaching green of Acacia, split their forces to try to counter the Leviathan's attack.
Zadoc made a quick stop at Argon's workshop, but found that it was empty and Argon was nowhere to be found. There was now full panic in the streets as Zadoc rushed through the crowds to the inn, finding both Mimsey and Donk. The group raced through the crowds without being trampled or serparated, reaching the dinghy and the rest of the party just as one of the giant tentacles reached out to touch a giant vine of kudzu, curling around one another as if holding hands. The joined tentacle and vine then smashed down on the city, destroying more of the city's defenses.
The party took the dinghy back to Jorrunde and her ship, sailing back to the isle of Baeddan as the destruction of Paraetonium continued behind them.
