Council of Iccot
History
The Council of Iccot is made up of five powerful merchant lords that are based out of Iccot. Members are voted into the council when a previous member dies, retires, or is voted out of the Council.
While all of the merchant lords are politically powerful in the city, the means they attain this vary wildly through the years. Some are old merchant families that manage to pass their role down through the years by reliably voting the same and keeping in the good graces of the other council members, while others have entered the council coming from nothing.
Primarily, the council governs matters such as taxation, foreign affairs, and how to best maintain the city. They are also in control of the Graycloaks, whose agents report directly to the councilors.
