Inquisition

The Inquisition officially serves the same role as any other church in The Empire and Vindicta, Empire Goddess of Vengeance's will as the primary focus of their agenda in The High Council. However, the Inquisition has historically served another purpose, even before the empire was founded. The purpose of checking all other powers and organisations within Tolhera and making sure that they remain free of corruption from other planes, the undead and heretics. During the days of the Calamity and the years following that, their influence grew massively, as they were the spearhead through which the fight against the demons was fought and they remain ever vigilant, and protect the empire and its people from the worst of threats. The nature of their foe however requires that each inquisitor remains semi independent from the whole, and as such, while they all receive their formal training from the main Church of Vindicta in Empire Capitol of Exelnar, they each form their own opinions and views of the world.

Structure

The main "church" building is located in Empire Capitol of Exelnar where the Inquisitorial Aspirants receive their training and the Arch Inquisitor who has the position in the High Council Resides. There are also small temples in major cities that require the full time presence of an Inquisitor or Arch Inquisitor.

Public Agenda

The defense and protection of the empire and its people from creatures from other planes, undead and heretics.

Divine Origins

The origins of the Inquisition are unknown, but some suggest that they were formed individually by people who had power and wanted to use it to protect their communities, and with the calamity they organised themselves and their power and influence grew exponentially.

Tenets of Faith

The eradication of all those who corrupt mortals, the safeguarding of the empire and the purification of evil.

Ethics

Varies from individual to individual.

Priesthood

The ranks and appointment of them are detailed in the titles of the Inquisitorial Aspirant, Inquisitor, Arch Inquisitor and High Inquisitor.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Very large amounts of political influence and power, but have been getting less through time as the distance between the Calamity and demon invasions and the present grows.
