High Inquisitor

The High Inquisitor is the highest position within the Inquisition and has been historically the second most powerful individual after the Emperor. The High Inquisitor has the power to requisition armies and raze towns, although that freedom of power was necessary in the years following the Calamity, it has recently started to lower as the other churches are growing in popularity and resources. However, the power and influence of the Inquisition is not to be taken lightly, and they have proven why they hold so much power many times.   The High Inquisitor is a member of the High Ecclesiarchs and by extension have a seat in The High Council The High Inquisitor is also the Vasis Arch Inquisitor of Empire Capitol of Exelnar, but it is common to leave the more active parts of the Inquisitorial role to other Inquisitors and Erratis Arch Inquisitors stationed there to keep the city clean of evil and train Inquisitorial Aspirants.

Qualifications

To become the High Inquisitor, one must first be a Vasis Arch Inquisitor. Errantis cannot become High Inquisitors, as the position is too bureaucratic and they have not received much political training, nor have the experience.

Requirements

When the current High Inquisitor dies, the Vasis Arch Inquisitors hold a vote to pick the next High Inquisitor between themselves. If the number of Arch Inquisitors voting allows for and reaches a tie, the Emperor will be relied to break the tie with his vote. In the past years however, since the position has become increasingly bureaucratic, competition for it has stagnated as some Inquisitors view the position as not worth it for them, and they would rather directly weed out evil in their lands.

Appointment

The appointment ceremony is held in the Emperors Palace in Exelnar and is attended by anyone of power who can. It is also celebrated through the empire and becomes known everywhere.

Duties

The duties of the High inquisitor, as a member of the High Ecclesiarchs and highest ranking member of the Inquisition is to handle the bureaucracy and voting procedures required in the two organisations. On the part of the Inquisition he must review the actions taken by all inquisitors as well as the future Arch Inquisitors and Inquisitors. On the part of the High Council he must view the motions sent to him by the Arch Inquisitors, decide which if any are worth viewing in the High Council, and take them there, as well as voting in any matters that effect the Inquisition in the High Council.

Benefits

Power unrivaled by anyone in the Empire, matched only by the other High Ecclesiarchs and the High Lords, surpassed only by the Emperor. Additionally the High Inquisitor can act outside the law if they believe the empire is at risk, but will be held accountable in the High Council after that.
