Ran'Haldin

Southern Dominance

Ran'Haldin, often called the Yellow City, is the largest and most prosperous city in the Southern Dominance. It is home to the largest Mal'Haran mines on Nalan, and as a result controls the level of Essence which can be created. The wealthy of this large city live like kings, however the poor are said to be kept where they are on purpose, as they make excellent workers for the mines.

Demographics

This city in particular attracts an impressive number of Tieflings, as the scorching heat of the mines are far less daunting to them than to most.

Government

The city is governed as all are within the Empire, with a mayor at its head.

Infrastructure

While the city is far from backward, featuring sewers, banks, and restaurants, it has been slow to jump on the changes bought about by Essence. People still draw water from wells, and most ride either camels or horses.

Assets

The cities main asset is its enormous store of Mal'Haran.

Architecture

Due to the high heat of the Southern Dominance, walls are thin here, and many roofs are left open, and covered with a treated cloth attached to a mechanism which will snap it shut when wet. Most buildings are made of a treated wood, again to best deal with the high heat.
The ground is coated with a thin layer of yellow dust, which while to a casual observer appears to be sand, it is in realty a thin layer of dust which has drifted out from the mines and has coated the entire city.

Geography

Ran'Halidn is at the northern most edge of the Southern Wastes, overlooking a sea of dunes to the north, and the seemingly unending sandy wastes to the south.
