Players are tasked by AEGIS to breach a formidable blockade of
Hunter units. Their primary objective is to retrieve a
Mindcore, a neural unit containing invaluable information crucial for understanding the Hunters' weaknesses and fighting them effectively.
This sets the stage for
III - Season of the Hunt: A Dark Legacy as there is key information about Hunter
Blacksmith replication facilities.
Additionally, this makes
Battlefront & Warfront activities available for players who complete the questline.
Step 1: Intelligence Gathering
Players receive a mission briefing from AEGIS commanders explaining the critical importance of acquiring a Hunter Mindcore. They will investigate recent Hunter activities in a specified area and gather resources from destroyed Hunters for clues about the
Mindcore's location.
Step 2: Infiltration Planning
Players learn that the Hunter Mindcore is being kept in a heavily infested area, blocked by a formidable defensive perimeter. AEGIS provides players with intel on the blockade layout, suggesting multiple entry points and potential weak spots. Players need to decide on the best approach.
Step 3: Breach the Blockade
Players execute their chosen plan to breach the blockade. This involves evading or neutralizing Hunter patrols, disabling security systems, and strategically navigating the terrain to reach the location where the
Mindcore is being held. Along the way, players engage in intense combat with various
Hunter units..
Step 4: Retrieve the Mindcore
Initiating a high-stakes infiltration, AEGIS provides air support to distract the Hunter defenses, allowing players to breach the interior and secure the
Mindcore. During their extraction from the compoud, players must protect the
Mindcore from reinforcements attempting to reclaim it. AI controlled AEGIS operatives assist.
Step 5: Extraction
Players must escort the
Mindcore to a secure extraction point, fending off any remaining Hunter forces. AEGIS operatives on standby facilitate the extraction process. They must protect the extraction team from a powerful onslaught of enemy units. Once extracted, players return to
Veritas Orbital Platform for analysis. The
Mindcore's data contains valuable insights into Hunter weaknesses.
