Drow

Named after the curse that caused their creation the Drow are a split race unto themselves. Originally created by the mad-tyrant Corlin in Kalin, the Drow were normal Elves who were cursed with their skin and complexion. After their Fallen City of Helbrech was destroyed by Corlin much of these Elves scattered. Causing the split we see today.
Drow have pitch black to dark grey skin and red eyes and are known to have excellent sight and agility in the darkest light levels.
A large amount of Drow would return to their home after the curse, now named Lyath'Or (Hopes Reach) and serve their new Drow queen, Xune. These Drow still reside in Lyath’Or due to its long winters, which makes the Drow dislike of direct sunlight easier to accommodate. They are somewhat misanthropic and dire as people, but have found good friends in the Dwarve people, who they now share the nation of Dwaav-Torva'Dro Abbanshi with.
Another group of Drow fled down, below the mountains. These Drow would return centuries later changed. Their souls now matching their dark skin these Drow made unholy deals to survive their cursed existence, and now reside in the dark places of the world. The average Kalinian’s inability to tell the difference between these “Dark Drow” and the mostly peaceful ones of Lyath’Or is cause of much tension when a Drow enters a room. This was only exacerbated during The Return/Consuming Darkness when the Dark Drow were a key aspect/command structure of the dark armies that swarmed the world, causing horrible suffering.

Genetics and Reproduction

Like other Elves, Drow fertility has taken a hit after "The Shifting" in the early Third Age. But the Drow have suffered from this marginally less than other Elven sub-species like the High Elves.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Dark Drow can be found throughout the world, emerging from time to time from the Underdark in raiding parties.

In Kalin

Most "civilized" Drow are found in the Dwaav-Torva'Dro Abbanshi, especially Lyath'Or and its surroundings. But they can be found in smaller numbers throughout the continent.

In Efaanu

Civilized Drow found in Efaanu are most often far travelers.

In Wahar

Civilized Drow found in Wahar are most often far travelers.

In Archin

Civilized Drow found in Archin are usually far travelers, but face much persecution as Dark Drow raids are more common in Archin than any other continent, or so the rumors go.
