Hilston
Hilston is the largest city in Emic and the oldest. It lies of the eastern shore of Lake Biddo. It was the first settled city after Aranthar united the continent under the banner of Eroth centuries ago. The town is a center of trade for Emic due to its size and location. It houses many artisans, and craftsmen and supplies much of the regions with worked goods. It also is close to several sources of natural resources.
The people of Hilston are generally good, but unlike most of the other cities in Emic, it is a city of haves and have nots. It is a city of classes. The lowest class are people who work hard for not much. This includes domestic workers, laborers, and even some crafters of goods that are considered lower class like leather workers and blacksmiths. Next are the crafters who make complex or luxury good and can sell to those with higher means. This middle class does well and can usually support a household and even some servants. The upper class of Hilston are comprised of traders and Merchants, who sell the good created by the people of Hilston all over the world.

The City is mostly Human, but there is a large population of Terrasti Elves living in the Elven District. The city is also home to a number of Halflings and even some Dwarves.

Government
The city is ruled by the Trader's Council. Traders who own property in the City and earn enough are invited to sit on the traders council. The council represent 5-7 senior members to make day to day decision but large or important decision go to the full council for a vote.
Defences
Hilston has a strong local patrol Guard which keeps its street clear of trouble. It also has a small standing army. The Army doubles as a regional guard for Emic, and is responsible for keeping the road between settlements clear. Each of the member cities of Emic are responsible for sending taxes to Hilston to maintain the Regional guard.
Industry & Trade
Hilston is known for it's trade goods. The city, being the largest in Emic and it's location as the gateway of Emic draws crafters and artisans from across Western Aranthar. Here raw goods come in and crafted works leave. Hilston also has a small fishing fleet and supports many farms on their eastern and northern border.
In addition to crafted good, the Academy is one of the rare places one can buy Enchanted items.

Infrastructure
Hilston is a crafter's City. It is the home of many artisans who create good that are not available in other places in Western Aranthar. It is also home to several guilds and organizations. There is also one of the great academies here as well.
Guilds and Factions
Hilston is a city of Guilds. The most powerful guild is the traders guild, but there is a crafters guild, ro fine artisans, a laborers guild, a merchant's guild for shop keepers, and other. There are several scholarly guilds including the House of Scholars, The Society for the preservation of ancient artifacts and hidden treasures, and the Red MAges Guilds. In addition there are several that do not publicise but some are well know, such as the Red Dagger Assain's Guild.
History
Hilston was the city Aranthar launched his campaign to bring together all the small kingdoms, and baronies, and other settlement into one larger country called Eroth. It was the first real city of Old Eroth and has survived war, calamities, natural disasters, etc. It has not always come through unscathed though. It has been destroyed and rebuilt several times.
Architecture
Hilston is a mix of different types of buildings. The SLums tend to have shoddy building that go up fast and don't last long. The richest parts of the cities are large mansions with strong walled complexes, and some of the largest building, like those that make up the academy or some of the churches are works of art.
