Cloud Spire

The Cloud Spire is a large alabaster structure north of the town of Twin Fingers. At night a blue glowing crystal can be seen at the top. This tower was built by the Empire and is known to channel transmutation magic. The tower was built on the ley lines of the world, and pulls a great deal of energy to power the crystal.   In the miles around the tower, the plants grow at odd angles, in unnatural colors, in bizarre shapes, and bear unknown fruit. Some trees are shaped like dinosaurs, but are hollow inside.   The final 120 feet around the tower is protected by a series of spheres. When within 10 feet of a sphere, it activates and produces a deterring and damaging magical effect. To get around this, Godgil cast a non-detection spell on Reef, and Nel dug a big hole 11 feet under the field. To enter the tower, a sacrifice had to be made by each entity entering. The sacrifice was either physical or mental. Macaria was the only one to choose mental, and she lot the memory of Nel giving her a flower.   The First Floor of the tower contained a control panel. Godgil approached it, and his movement slowed, and panels from the ceiling began to lower towards him. He was able to disable them before he got squished, and also found a map of the rest of the tower floors.   The Second Floor opened into a room with tiles on the floor, and spikes on the ceiling. When the tiles are depressed, they create a force that negates gravity, sending the object on it into the spiked ceiling. Macaria tried prying the tiles up individually, but then just cast Shatter on a 10 foot floor space. She got a diamond for her efforts. Nel threw Godgil across the room like a skipping stone, and he used Tenser's Floating Disk to surf across the spikes, as well as transport everyone else across. A teleportation circle lead to the next floor.   The Third Floor is a large cavernous space. The central platform had three spaces for items to be placed, and two spots for people to stand in. When the standing positions are engaged, the entities standing there are locked in place by a barrier, and one of the other three platforms is illuminated. Each of the other three platforms presented a battle challenge - an angel, a gorgon, and a green & black dragon wyrmling. When defeated, they dropped an item to place in the central platform. When all the items were placed, the team were able to ascend to the next floor.   The Fourth Floor is where the crystal sat. A Kalashtar spirit, Daidre, resided in this tower. She agreed to disable the tower in exchange for a promise to free her people trapped on the southern peninsula. Daidre also provided important information about Obica, including the magical specialties of the other towers.   Before Daidre sacrificed herself to shut the tower down, Godgil used the transmutation energy to make Bartholomew the size of a dragon for one minute. Bartholomew really liked being giant.
