Godgil is a deep gnome wizard.
Before Obica
Godgil was born and raised in the Underdark. He showed great magical abilities, and was apprenticed to a wizard. During his training, he accidently teleported to the surface, leading to the scariest moment of his life - seeing the sun for the first time. Later, seeing the ocean caused Godgil to have a full psychotic break.
Above ground, Godgil joined the Order of the Scribe, and spent the next 20 years reading and studying in The Library. Todd (2'd and a popped collar) was his main rival. When he heard about the uncharted, but very magical land of Obica, and decided to go and study it for himself. He departed The Library, and has "gone rogue" from his order in his pursuit of magical knowledge.
Godgil has an extreme racial hatred for
Goblins . He will make excuses to go out of his way to kill goblins. He initially told his friends that goblins ate his childhood dog, and that was the source of his hatred. He later explained that he and his younger brother were kidnaped, and he was forced to watch as his brother was cooked and eaten in front of him. He escaped, but was sent away to apprentice as a wizard because his parents could not bear the reminder of their youngest son's death.
On Obica
On the continent of Obica, Godgil's theoretical magical education became practical as he began creating magical items with
Humbuver. Together, they learned about the
crystals native to the land, and how to infuse them with specific spells and magic types. They created many item to make travel easier such as the floating cart called
Stacy's Mom, a hover bike, and saddles imbued with animal friendship spells. Godgil and Humbuver made modifications to
The Folding Boat so that it is able to fly. They also attached a laser cannon to the crow's nest which can fire a magical blast at enemies.
Using his saddle, Godgil befriended an Allosaurus he named
Nefertiti that was hatched on
Joel's farm. Playing on her hunting and pact instincts, he lead her in a hunt and created a bond with her.
Godgil loves books, reading, knowledge, and libraries. When he arrived in
The Cabal's Stronghold on the Western coats of Obica, he immediately joined the library. While there he was able to research the downfall of the
Empire, and more information about the Towers along the coast. According to his research, these towers were made to keep some kind of evil force locked in, rather than keep other deities out. He wants to continue his research in the
Clovus Waste before disabling any more of the towers. This discovery has also increased his doubt that
Macaria's patron
Thanatos is who he says he is, and may be a more malevolent force.
Also while in The Cabal's Stronghold, Godgil bought and freed a man named Tobias, who was part of the
Order of The Eternal Torches team looking for more information about their missing expedition. He helped Tobias get back to
Twin Fingers, and sent him back to Otaria along with a well-disguised
Spik.
Deep down Godgil fears that coming to Obica was a terrible mistake, and he worries that he will not gain the fame and notoriety he deserves for his accomplishments being so far removed from society as a whole.
Conflict
Godgil's chaotic nature and lack of restraint in anger causes problems with his friends. He taught
Tari that all
Goblins are bad, and slaughtered a large group of them that the rest of the party was trying to free from slavery.
Nath was especially put off, and indicated that he would not tolerate behavior like that from Godgil again.
Later, after arguing with
Macaria and her disappearance into the Astral Plane with
The Folding Boat, he attempted to kill her on sight when she returned. At this took place while the group was traveling with
Captain Stevie Mac, she told him he could leave the ship, or be held and tried for his actions. Godgil chose to leave the ship and return to
Twin Fingers, and no one else opted to leave with him.
