Ken Yukimura
Dr Ken Yukimura- Park (a.k.a. Park Byung-joon)
He is a history teacher at Beacon Hills High School, and an expert on Japanese-American internment Camps.
He met Noshiko while researching for his Doctorate, which was on Internment Camps in California. During his research, he discovered the existence of Oak Creek Relocation Centre, and attempted to find and interview survivors.
By cross-referencing admittance and release records from Tule Lake Relocation Center with death records, he was able to identify many of those who were moved to the Oak Creek overflow camp. He attempted to locate living relatives of those moved, and which lead to him finding Noshiko, who he assumed to be a daughter or granddaughter of the Yukimura Noshiko.
Noshiko tried to warn him off, given that the evens of Oak Creek had never been declassified. When it became clear after several interviews that this would not work, she told him an editted version of the truth.
Ken was undeterred, believing that the Oak Creek Massacre, and the role that government corruption had played in it, made it even more important that the truth be exposed, and being fully willing to risk his own arrest in the cause.
Seeing no other way to deter him, Noshiko told him the full story, including explaining the existence of Kitsune. Althogh he was initially afraid, since Kumiho (native Korean fox spirits similar to Kitsune) are always malicious, he found he could not stop thinking about Noshiko, and flew back out to New York to ask her out.
Although she was initially resistance, due to her experience of losing Rhys Maxon, she had also developed feelings for Ken, and the two began dating, eventually marrying in 1992.
Against the wishes of his parents, he took Noshiko's name, given her greater age, and the fact that she was the only living member of her family.
Noshiko was initially wary of having children, but Ken had always dreamed of being a father, and persuaded her that they could handle raising a child Kitsune together. Their only daughter, Kira, was born in 1995.
While working as a TA during his studies, Ken discovered a passion for teaching. After completing his Doctorate, he completed a post-graduate teaching course, and began teaching history at a high school level.
In 2011, Noshiko sensed the restoration of The California Nemeton. She initially planned to return to Beacon Hills alone, to check on The Nogitsune and stop it if it had been released as she feared. However, Ken refused to allow her to face it alone, and applied for the vacant history teacher job at Beacon Hills High which had become available after the death of Simon Westover.
