Druid
A druid is a type of mystic who draws magic and strength from an intimate connection with nature. Their magic allows them to shape the elements, control and influence plants, and communicate with and transform into beasts. Druids are practitioners of found magic.
Most druids live in communes of druids known as druid circles. A few, seeking to right some injustice in the world or defend the lands they call home, might set out away from their circle to become an Adventurer.
Druidic Philosophies
Though most druid circles are small, isolated communities, they typically subscribe to one of a few different general philosophies. Some of the most common are listed below.- Circles of the Land seek to honor the inherent magic of the particular land on which they live. The spells they cast are often strongly attuned to their specific environment.
- Circles of the Moon largely stem from the influence of the Wild Dynasty, and have a deep connection with the Elvish element of gwyar, or change. Their connection with the rhythm of life makes them exceptional shapechangers.
- Circles of Spores have a particular connection with fungi, and believe in the sacredness of decay as an extant form of life. Their abilities occasionally overlap with necromancy, in a way that leads many of these circles to be feared and misunderstood.

Demographics
Only a small fragment of the world's population undertakes the journey to becoming druids. The vocation is only common in small villages already heavily tied to druid circles, such as Nolber (home to the Circle of Weavers). Druidcraft is often passed down in family lines. The longest druidic lineages by far are of Elvish and Gnomish descent, some of which stretch back millennia.
History
Druids are thought to be the oldest practicioners of magic. Evidence of druidcraft has been found as far back as the late Age of Tranquility, in the earliest written proto-Gnomish texts. Druids experienced periods of persecution during the Age of Anxiety due to the populace's fear and anger towards the age's many natural disasters, and to a lesser extent during the Age of Integrity in places with a heavy focus on technological advancement (particularly Erdelan). Because of this, most druid circles evolved to be cautious and secretive, and many isolated themselves from the greater world.
Today, druids who choose to live in or near society are widely respected and venerated. A few druid circles, such as the Circle of the Bloompainters of Arborcítta and the Luciferan Synod of @dancam, live almost entirely within urban areas.
