Charge. If the goat moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a ram attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 2 1d4 damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 10 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Sure-Footed. The goat has advantage on Strength and Dexterity saving throws made against effects that would knock prone.
Stubborn Fortitude. If the goat is reduced to 0 hp but not killed outright, it may choose to be reduced to 1 hp instead. This feature can only be used once per long rest.
Teleport. As a reaction to being frightened or to using Stubborn Fortitude, the goat magically teleports, along with any Equipment it is wearing or carrying, up to 40 ft. to an unoccupied space it can see. Before or after teleporting, the dog can make one horn Attack.
Actions
Ram. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 1d4+1 bludgeoning damage.
Basic Information
Fey-goats are quadrupedal bovines, similar to the Material Plane's goats and sheep. They have four horns that typically spiral inwards but occasionally are found in other shapes, such as curvy or heavily twisted. Their wool is thick and bright golden in color. They have horizontal pupils that stand out sharply from the green eyes common among all fey.
They are classified as non-intelligent, non-shapeshifting fey.
Fey-goats are found across the Feywild, in all but the densest forests. They prefer open meadows and pastures with plentiful low vegetation and few predators. Wild fey-goats dot the mountainsides of the Spine, in smaller herds; the wild fey-goat tends to be tougher and more volatile than the domesticated fey-goat.
Fey-goats graze constantly, sometimes to detrimental effect. They can and do eat any non-toxic plant material, or anything that once was plant material (regardless of any magical properties). When left unattended, they have been known to eat clothing, cursed or blessed garlands, gold spun from straw, druidic armor, and even wooden wands, staffs, or robes enchanted with great power. Wood more than six inches thick is too sturdy for them to chew through easily and contains few nutrients, so they typically ignore it, though they sometimes strip trees of their bark.
They can sprout clover in the soil where their hooves land, and they frequently eat this when food they prefer is not available. However, if a fey-goat goes more than one day (sunset to sunset) without eating food besides this magical clover, it will die.
Additional Information
Eladrin,
Tanuki, and
Kitsune keep and herd fey goats, typically using a
Blink Dog to herd them. One eladrin goatherd can control a herd as large as 50 fey goats, though herds of 10-20 are much more common.
Sprite or
Pixie communities will typically have a small herd of fey-goats living together in the center of the village, with each goat belonging to one individual or family, taken out as needed, and then returned to the fold. These species often use them as mounts.
Eladrin, tanuki, and kitsune keep and herd fey goats for their milk and wool. Kitsune also slaughter them for meat, and tanuki use shed fey-goat hooves to make musical instruments. Unseelie and Courtless sapients, such as the
Hag or the
Redcap, do not herd their own fey-goats, but a Seelie community's herd is often highly coveted and hunted for meat and sport by these creatures.
Fey-goat wool is highly prized by members of the archfey courts to make robes and other garments. Its natural golden hue is commonly used as-is, but it also takes dye incredibly well, appearing as a bold, shimmering jewel-tone regardless of the strength of dye used. Fey-goat wool is a primary ingredient in many magical cloth-based items, including the
Omnidress.
Fey-goats are used by the smaller races of the feywild (primarily sprites and pixies) as mounts or beasts of burden.
