Kingdom of Scalados
The Kingdom of Scalados is the Elf-majority kingdom that occupies the northwest quarter of Belcantas. Its central governing philosophy of pacifism and environmentalism draws from its close relationship with the gods of the Wild Dynasty and its devastating losses in the War of Great Sorrow.
Demography and Population
The population of Scalados is roughly 6 million. Its largest population center is the Sister Cities, followed by Enchalmida and Kyolondë.
The majority of the population of Scalados is Elvish, with a few Human outposts largely extant in Enchalmida and Undacítta. Northern Scalados contains the Fey-orc tribes of the Wailë-Lands. Southern Scalados is dominated by Wood Elf society, while northern Scalados remains a High Elf stronghold even after the destruction of Bjália and the High Elf Diaspora of the Y300s. Sun Elf culture is most prominent in Enchalmida, whereas the few Moon Elf groups tend to stay along the extreme southern coast.
Religion
The organized religion of the Wild Dynasty holds significant sway over the culture and decisions of the Kingdom of Scalados. The Valòmar acts as a de facto secondary head of government, as they maintain constant correspondence with the monarch and their council of elders.
Foreign Relations
Scalados has historically been isolated from the rest of the continent by virtue of its location, with the Blue Mountains and the dangerous lands of Draxhaven being incredibly difficult to cross. Thus, trade and diplomacy are almost entirely conducted through its ports of Undacítta and Enchalmida. It has gone through periods of extreme, deliberate isolation, such as during the reign of Valòmar Caranësa te-Arawn, as well as periods of relative openness such as the Finnánu era. It has historically held its closest cultural and diplomatic ties with Cantonova across the sea.
