Midsummer's Night

Midsummer's Night is the popular tradition of the summer Solstice, particularly in Moon Elf cultures. It is venerated as the peak of the Summer Court's power.   On the evening of the summer solstice (21 June), communities gather together to enjoy music and dancing throughout the night. Elaborately decorated costumes are common, as are Ithilgraine tattoos. Unlike on Snowfall's Eve, these costumes are not meant to hide one's identity, but rather to emulate and celebrate the beauty of the Feywild during summer.   In places with significant moon elven populations and close connections to the Feywild, some Summer Court Fey themselves may even join the celebration. It is not uncommon for the streets of Cantonova to welcome Pixies, Sprites, and Faerie Dragons to the party alongside mortal revelers. These visitors are given offerings of handcrafted jewelry, alcohol, and fine foods. In return, they often grant temporary boons to their mortal hosts, such as enhancing their attractiveness or musical ability.   Midsummer's Night is considered an auspicious time for weddings, particularly of prominent or royal couples. The rulers of House Almaviva frequently marry on this date; most recently, Count Geoffrey Almaviva and Countess Rosina Almaviva were wed on 21 June Y1095.
