Primë

A Primë (masculine Primo, feminine Prima) is traditionally the head of any of the six temple-campuses of Scalados within the organized religion of the Wild Dynasty. Though the title of primë is sometimes informally used to refer to the leaders of the Aldanuvian Orders or other wood elf-influenced religious institutions (such as the College of the Holy Mother under the leadership of Enheduanna), these primaë are not chosen by the Valòmar or Lebemnë and rarely, if ever, participate in rites at the Citadel of the Wild.

Requirements

A potential primë must have served well and faithfully at their temple-campus as an Aistanë for at least several decades. Primë have typically gone above and beyond their duties in their particular area of expertise; for instance, a healer or Cleric will have performed numerous resurrections or cured a nigh-incurable disease, a Warrior Monk or Paladin will have defended their temple from a grave threat, and a theologian will have authored a significant philosophical treatise or made known contact with a higher Celestial. The potential primë also needs to have some familiarity and skill with all the possible duties of an Aistanë.

Appointment

Primaë are appointed by the Valòmar, in consultation with the Lebemnë. A primë will typically designate a suggested successor before their death; if they have not done so, their Soul is typically consulted with the help of the Prospeta Iríma if there is no clear candidate among the temple's aistane. The coronation of a new primë occurs at the Citadel of the Wild. The entire temple accompanies them on a pilgrimage and takes part in a sixteen-day spiritual ritual for their coronation.

Duties

The primë is responsible for the spiritual, physical, and mental well-being of the residents of their temple. They lead the selection of all temple personnel, from nuns and temple-campus students to the heads of major disciplines. They are expected to commune at length with their patron god on a regular basis. They also take the lead on all communications with the Citadel of the Wild, and receive votes in the election of a new Valòmar should the previous one die.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

A primë holds the position for life, unless grave illness or divine request calls them to step down. The only exception is primaë found guilty of heresy, corruption, or abandonment of their temple's duties, either by the Lebemnë or by a quorum of their own temple's aistane. Primaë forcibly expelled from their condition are invariably subject to Hectalmë, typically declared te-Malunoth. Those who admit fault and make efforts towards amends are sometimes given more leniency and declared te-Valanaï, though they will never again be eligible for a position in any formal religious institution. A handful of particularly egregious cases of apostasy that resulted in the death of one or more ordained, or a large-scale natural disaster determined to be punishment from the gods, have seen the offending Primë not only disbarred, but declared te-Anaethema.
