Seething Coast

The southern coast of Isla Voli is known by sailors as the Seething Coast. Its high, sharp cliffs, violent weather, and viciously territorial wildlife—all likely exaggerated by its proximity to a major ley line—keep nearly all mortals away.   Though it sits along Voli's powerful central ley line, there are no major settlements along the Seething Coast due to its punishing weather and terrain. However, some reclusive evokers and elementally-aligned sorcerers have built keeps along it, taking advantage of both the solitude and the innate magical potential.

Localized Phenomena

The weather patterns of the Seething Coast are notoriously difficult. Heavy rainstorms happen near-daily and often progress into thunderstorms. Frequent ondarúcimë dash ships against the rocks with little to no warning. All but the most foolish and desperate sailors avoid the area entirely, even if it means adding days or weeks to their journey.

Fauna & Flora

Several still-extant dinosaur species still populate the interior of Voli, and the Seething Coast is no exception to this. Larger sauropods avoid the area, but smaller species (such as raptors and dimetrodons) are quite common. Pleiosaurs and occasionally sea drakes have been found nesting in the shipwrecks that dot the cliff bases of the Seething Coast.   Volian pseudodragons are a rare species that evolved to mimic bronze dragons. Their sole breeding and nesting grounds are the Columbariums, a secluded inlet of the Seething Coast where erosion has formed sea caves that keep hatchlings safe from both the harsh weather phenomena of the seas and the many potential predators on land.
