Donkerwasser

The Donkerwasser is a location south of the Valkenbay and north of Margraten. It was once part of the land that encompassed the Verboten Eislandes. In 1223 AC, an encounter with one of the Elan Lords, Varghesh, led to the majority of the north side of the Eislands to sink under the waves. It's depth is staggering and no explorers have found the bottom despite being so close the the Frisian mainland. Some Adepts skilled in breathing underwater have tried, but the pressure is too great even for some of the most skilled.
Even if it weren't for the depth, the raw Elan that Varghesh unleashed here hundreds of years ago have caused many strange aquatic beasts to appear here and flock to its energy. Ships sailing the coast of Frisia do well to go all the way around the western end of the Verboten Eislandes as opposed to traversing these waters. Only the foolish, or extremely lucky try.

Geography

Ships sailing over the area immediately recognize the dark blue, almost black waters here. The crevasse underwater upon Varghesh's appearance remains deep, deep under water and it has formed an immense trench where the light of the sun cannot reach.

Fauna & Flora

Strange, wondrous, and dangerous creatures inhabit this area of the Arden Sea.

Natural Resources

If one can brave the monsters of the deep waters here, some unique deep sea fish can be found in the waters such as the Frisian Mackerel.
